AR 10 Upper on a AR 15 lower ?? conversion kits??

does anyone make a AR 10 upper that can be put on a AR 15 lower ?? the lower is a colt model 6551 target model ,,Might be doing some hog hunting and think the 308 would be much better ??

I dont think so but I could be wrong. There are some uppers u can get for a ar15 lower that would be better suited for hog hunting, like the wssm calibers, bushmaster .450 and there are some more. I have a 243 wssm upper and love it.

I've never seen one. Not sure why you'd want to, considering that ALMOST every caliber for the AR10 style, can be equaled in the AR15 platform.

Look at the 30OSSM, 30 Remington AR, 30WSSM, 300 AAC Blackout, 7.62 x 39, 450 bushmaster, 50 beuwulf, 458 SOCOM, .499 LWR

AND MANY MORE.

There are a ton that hit hard, ut look at the 30 OSSM and 30 WSSM to get .308+ performance.

Actually, if you look at the new Colt, that is possible.. but the patented part, is the conversion kit. Same lower as a standard AR15, but put on to an AR10 upper.

All pictures leaked show a blocked out portion of how the lower and upper connect, but it looks friggin' sweet! I definitely would want one, if the concept works as advertised.

I think a conversion is POSSIBLE, but practical is a whole different bag of worms.

I think it would be MORE practical but still WAY UNLIKELY to have an AR10 Style lower...that could be retrofitted to handle an AR15 style upper, but again...WHY.
The reason I see the reverse as a possibility is because there is NO WAY to feed the longer rounds (308, 243) in a regular AR15 size receiver. YOU COULD however, feed smaller rounds into converted AR10 size mags and feed them into your AR10 style lower.

Is the juice worth the squeeze? Not likely.

Yes I can see the reverse being possible because an ar15 upper could theoretically work on an ar10 lower. I just see too many issues with the mag well if you try to convert an ar15 lower.

And I had the reverse I assume... AR10 Lower/modified.. not the standard Armalite style. Hence the reason Colt modified it. Sorry for the delay.

Yep, like I said, much more likely to have the AR10 size lower as the host for the mod.

I'm not surprised it was finally realized. If mags and uppers would have been designed to run the smaller calibers in an AR10 from the beginning, we'd all be running around with AR10s in virtually ANY CALIBER UNDER THE SUN.

sorry for the confusion... It's been leaked for a few months and hadn't had the photos looked at since I posted it... Now the air is cleared

CLICK THE PICS to see them SUPER ULTRA BIG

I still want to see what the "conversion" looks like. Judging from the pictures, there is a triangle piece that will pin into the "newly designed" lower that essentially makes higher spot for the upper pin to fit.

This picture is clearly the newly designed upper/lower combo. This upper is NOT going to work on the AR10 lowers currently in existence.

Here, if you click the pic and zoom in on the top upper receiver you can see that it has a cut out shape to accept a triangle piece. This is likely where the modified conversion piece will clip into.
It's to bad the AR wasn't designed like this from the beginning.

In response to the OPs question...the answer would be no. AR10 upper on AR15 lower? Not possible to my knowledge and no logical reason to try IMO.

The .308 SCAR Mk17, Colts CM and LE 901 will have ability to convert to 5.56. Don't hold your breath on availability. Rumor has FNHs plans for conversion kit are on hold.
