Ar-15 in .243

Nobody makes them in .243 Winchester, because that cartridge is based on the .308, and it's too long to feed in an Ar-15 length action or magazine.
They make a shortened .243 WSSM that will fit the AR action.
Or they make an AR-10 that is long enough to handle the .243 Winchester.

You gotta figure out which way you want to go.

I believe DPMS is now making an AR in 243 Win. Another similar option ballistics wise is the 6.8 SPC which is made by several AR Manufacturers.

No, you're right, Remington does make them, but it's in the R 25 (AR-10 sized receiver) not the R 15 (AR-15 sized receiver).

Not as heavy as I thought. I have a Dtech 243WSSM w/fluted 22" bbl. that weighs in at 10# w/scope & empty mag.

Sandhills,

No problem! I should have been more specific myself since there are so many versions of what is termed as an AR which does include larger receiver groups. I have a new Rock River LAR-8 in 308 which is of the larger designed receiver. And I am certainly also a fan of the 243 Win. Cal.
Have one in a heavy barreled SAKO Varmint *bolt and boy does it shoot!
Take care!
