Looking for a scope mount for the .204 Dtech is sending my way. Was going to use a Armalite one piece mount but they are on backorder for 60 days. Has anyone used the Warne Tactical mounts and if so, what height do I need. I was looking at the QR model. Any opinions/thoughts will be appreciated.

Mike I have the ultra high AR QD's plenty of clearance for my Burris 6x-24x-44mm. I was going to do a 2 scope setup and changed plans, they just stay on now. Like Gary, no problems here.

model 1 sells the same one piece base, or it looks just like it and its a few dollars cheaper. if thats a no-go then get a set of the extra- extra high rings, just keep the center of scope about 3.5" off the center of bore for proper cheek weld.

I ordered an Armalite one piece from Quanticoarms.com on April the 7 and they were backordered for 3 weeks but it shipped out on Wednesday.I guess I got lucky. My .02 cents is whatever you get, don't short yourself or the rifle. I ordered a cheap one piece and it was a big piece of crapola and now I've been sitting here with a really cool rifle, a top quality scope, and a big turd sandwich holding the two together. This boils down to Trashcan not getting to shoot his rifle. Frustrating to say the least. I've heard good things about Warnes mounts and rings.

I have a Sightron 4-16x42 on my .204 upper with Warne QD rings and ordered the high ones. They fit me perfectly, but I have a hi-pro receiver that adds about a half an inch on the scope height. My main reason for getting the hi-pro on the upper was that I have the same setup on my DPMS .223 and this lets me swap scopes if I need to without a lot of adjustment.
I think the Warned are high quality and extremely stable.

mikegranger, I bought a set of Leupold Rifleman aluminum rings for my flat top AR. They are "Detachable See-Thru Rings, Matte finish, P/N #55880". They work well and only ran $16.23 at Wally World. There's a LOT of room for big objective scope, but I'm only using a 40mm scope. It might be a viable option to look at. MI VHNTR

I use the Warne's on all my rifles bolt and AR's. Prefer the Tactical rings because they have a nut for use with a torque wrench. This allows for repeatability when changing scopes around on your rifle. They are very good mounts for the buck in my opinion.

Mike,
I have the Bushmaster Varminter which comes with the Bushmaster 1/2" Mini Risers. I topped that with the Warne Tactical rings in Medium and the height was just right. The rings are holding a Burris Signature Select 4-16x44 Illuminated Ballistic Plex with Posi Lock. I wasnt sure if I would like the Warne Tac rings at first but I have been pleasantly surprised. Not cheap but very high quality.

I have a White Oak mount on top of my flat-top that gives me 15 MOA built in. On top of that I used Burris Signature Zee Rings with the Posi-lock.

Mike - get some nice Ultra high tactical rings like Warne. The last thing a calling gun needs is the extra weight of the one piece mount. I have a Model 1 mount on my AR, and it sits the scope at perfect eye level. But it weighs a ton.

The mini risers mentioned above are great, because you can use less expensive Weaver rings (which you probably have kicking around) and tailer a perfect fit for you cheek/eye height, as everyones is different.

The Warne Ultra High detachable rings have served me well. These are made specifically for the AR flat top uppers, and it does return to zero. Nice rings. I think mine cost about $79 .

I feel your pain Mike. I ran into the same dilemma. Shopped every online source I could find and NOBODY had a 30mm Armalite in stock. I had a brand new Leupold LR sitting here and couldn't mount it the way I wanted to. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif It was killing me!! As a last resort, I went thru the Yellow Pages calling local gun shops. Got a few "no I don't have that but I've got something that works just as well". Yeah, right. On about the 4th call the guy says "yep I got one". Almost $20 cheaper than I'd been able to find it online too. I got reeeaaaal lucky. If you'd like I can call the shop Monday and see if by some chance they've got another one. PM me or something if you'd like me to check into it.

Jimanaz,

I would greatly appreciate you looking for me. Haven't found anything and I was online googling until midnight lastnight. Did find a Larue mount that looked awesome but it's twice the price of the Armalite.

Let me know if you find one. I like the scope mounted further forward than standard mounts will allow. White Oak Armament has a nice extended base but I'm back to having one more moving part than I want. The Armalite's aren't so pretty but they work!

I have the White Oak Extended base for mine. For the reason that mostly I shoot competition that I use peep sights for . I leave my scope and mounts attached to the WOA base and just pop it off. When I put it back on, it is very repeatable. It is a little pricey, but works excellent for my 600 yd competitions, and for Prairie Doggin. Sounds like you have your mind set, but you may think about it a little more. I can post some close up pics if you like.

That Model1 mount comes in 30mm and I like mine. I did modify it a little, I radiused all the edges with a burring knife, machined that dorky looking square corner off the end below the front ring base, and re-painted it. It's solid and repeats zero perfectly when removing/installing. It's made out of T6061 aluminum alloy, so it's not heavy. I like the "double web" skeletonized design, that's a good idea I think.
