I just got my first ever AR-15...its a DPMS 24 inch bull barrel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What power scope are you guys using on yours????

I just put a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20 on my RRA Varmint 18". I like to shoot long range ground squirrels and paper and most of my coyote hunting is in open country. So far I am really happy with it.

I have a 6x18 loopy target on my 24" RRA, a 4x12 target loopy on my 20" carry gun, a 5.5x16.5 nikon monarch on my 22" 25 WSSM, and a 1.5x5 TC on my 20" 458 SOCOM, so choose your scope to suffice for the majority of the shooting you plan do do with it.

I have a 20" custom with a 3.3-10x44 Nikon Monarch that I like really well. I sometimes hunt in closer quarters and its nice to have the 3.3 magnification with the wider field of view.

I have a 24" varmint model AR, I have a Bushnell Legend 5-15x mil dot scope on it, it is very clear, an excellent scope. In the Bushnell line the Legend is 3rd from the top, Elite 4200, Elite 3200 and then the Legend, it has the same light transmission as the 5-15x Elite 3200, that's what got me to get it, and I really like it.

Depends on what you intend to do with it, Things like terrain type game or if you just want to shoot targets. I know several guys who are happy with a 10X fixed power scope I know tow guys who have the Super Sniper 10X and 16X they saved cash on the scope (around 300 Bucks) and have good results but they only shoot paper. Every maker has glass that will work well. I would choose a variable for any long range hunting but I hunt in very open rolling country so I need to be able to scan the terrain a lot when spotting yotes since the grass and weeds around here gets waist high some times

I have a 9-24 on my 24"DPMS, most of the time it sits at 9x, My Savage 10FP-LE has the 4200 Elite on it--just wish I had one for the DPMS.

This is a great scope. It is pricey but great. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Ask yourself this question, "What range will I be generally shooting" In my experiance, most called in Predators, will be shot well within 150 yards. That being the case, I stick with a low power variable on my AR's 1-4x is my favorite because of the greater field of view for the close encounters /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
