recently picked up a colt ar with free floating hand guard tube. wanting to a sling on it for packing it around arizona any recomendtions or things to avoid ? whats your sling setup?

I generally run a single point sling 90% of time. Just depends on what im going to be doing with the AR and what other gear I have on or will be taking with me. Vickers, Magpul, OSOE are just a few of the slings I have tried, nothing bad to say about any of them.

i have a viking tactics sling with the wide pad and I only use QD connectors with it. I like it. not as comfortable with my 308 because it is a side charge, but i can still arrange it so that the charging handle doesn't dig into my chest too bad.

I like the adjustment straps and how quickly i can go from having it snug against my chest to loose enough for a off hand shot and then back to snugly secured.

I use a single point sling for hunting and really like it. There have been two times I have walked into a stand I was going to call and had a coyote standing out in the field. The transition to shoot vs a normal sling was much easier.

Here is what I did with my New Ambush Firearms AR15. First I added a Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point device to the buffer tube. See videos on Utube on how to do this as it's tricky.

Then the next thing I did was to buy a Magpul RSA Rail Sling Attachment. I can attach this to the short 3" long Picatinny Rail section that's mounted on my 12" long modular free floated rail system on my AR15. This 12" rail came with my Ambush Firearms AR15 5.56 rifle. I have three 3" sections of Picatinny rails that I can mount anywhere on the 12 in section of modular fee floated rail. I mounted the 3" short Picatinny rail onto the side of the 12" modular free float rail system.

My AR has an 18" heavy barrel. I've found it's too heavy for a single point. I have a Viking Tactics Original. I've been very happy with it. I use QD sling mounts, one on my Magpul ACS-L stock and one on the front of the rail.

I like push buttons on my sling.
I like push button holes on the side of my AR.
The rifle lays flat against my back. I like that.
My muzzle always points up.
I do not want to be shot in the foot.
