AR Trigger job

Just finish up my trigger today. I have a stock DPMS trigger and dont have the money for a new one. So after looking at how the trigger assembly works I rounded off the shear block on the trigger, not on the hammer. I bumped it with a micro fine file and smoothed it out.It barely looks like I did anything at all. I just removed the square edge. This took out all the grind from the factory and gave me a real smooth 3lb trigger. Now its right.

Just thought I would share that with yall.
 
I sent 7 triggers off to Bill Springfield in Colorado off of a post I saw at ar15.com.

The 3lb version cost me 46 bucks. Actually less than that, he offers 10% discount on more than 3 triggers.

He took the hammer sear face down quite a bit, this gets rid of the creep. He also took the square face off of the trigger sear. He also chopped the back of the hammer off to make it look more like a JP speed hammer and added new, lighter springs. I like it so much now I have no desire to upgrade to another.
 
Most factory triggers can be improved a lot by just a small amount of stoneing, the folks at the factory really do not have the time for the fine tuned finish needed. All you have to be careful of is removeing the surface hardening this will cause rapid wear it can be replaced by heating the finished part to a cherry red with a propane torch then quenching it in oil.
 
From what I've read online and from Bill at AR15.com. the surfaces aren't the only thing hardened anymore. This isn't an issue with a semi auto gun.
 
Well here is a pic of the gun, once my wife gets home with the camera, I'll take it apart and take a pic of a new tigger and the one in the gun.

I sent Bill the trigger group on my K-16 and he worked wonders on it. It is almost like shooting a different gun. Also, the price is right and he has a quick turn-around time which is really nice.

Its a DPMS 20" Bull, yes the barrel is floating. With what I call junk amout UMC 45 hp's, I have a 10 shot group of 3/8" at 100 yards. Cant wait to see what the trigger job will do for it.
 
please post pictures. like you, i don't have the money right now for an expensive trigger or trigger job, but my trigger is absolutely atrocious. it actually makes shooting significantly less pleasant. so please post pictures asap!
