AR upper questions..

what is the difference performance wise between the standard 20 in ar uppers and the 20in heavier barrels.. is there much of a performance difference and what about weight..

also, has anyone tried the wilson barrels(i think thats the name of them) in the back of the predator extreme mags.

heres another question.. im considering contacting dtech and having him build an upper for me (fluted-20in) and putting it on a lower of my choice.. with a ace stock and rr 2 stage trigger.. atleast this is my hopes at this point.. will the uppers built by dtech fit any of the lowers out there or is there a certain one i should use.. reason being i have a stag lower right now and was just going to use that as my starting point..
any help right now would be appreciated.. bc ive been fighting with the different type of barrel to go with.. but i know i want a good shooting 20 in. barrel.

I just recieved my 20" upper from Dtech and it fits nicely on my Stag lower.

Performance...20" is a 20"...heavy or not. The heavy or bull might be more accurate but velocity will be the same.

Don't go to Wilson...get a Dtech upper with a SUM barrel...you'll never look back and you can't buy a better rifle than his....bugs will be disappointed...you'll be able to hit them.

+1 Mike does very impressive work, just look at the stuff he has poste on here, and read what guys here say about what they have bought.

All of the "modern" AR lowers and uppers will interchange, EXCEPT for the Colt lower & Colt upper. The take-down pins are a different diameter. There may be others, but I am not aware of it if there are. If neither your upper or lower is a Colt, you should be good to go.

The advantages of the bull barrel is that it's stiffer and heats up slower than a standard barrel, since it heats up slower, it will most likely cool down slower, although the increased surface area of the fluted barrel should help with that, then again the loss of mass with a fluted barrel might allow it to heat up faster! Catch 22! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I've got a 24" AR with a Wilson bull barrel, it's awesome!

My d-tech upper fit nicely on my Stag lower.
