AR10 or WSSM upper

I've been looking into AR's for awhile. I'd about decided on an AR10 in .308 as a good all around gun, then I noticed the wssm uppers that work with standard lowers. Was thinking the 25 wssm might be nice, as I have a 25-06 now.
So Pro's and cons for either? Which would you do. Gun will be used some for deer, some for long range yotes when I don't care about the fur, and just all around fun. I don't have any experience with WSSM's. The only thing holding me up on the AR10 is i'd like a .223 AR also, and can't afford two seperate guns right now. (technically can't afford 1 in the first place, so two's way out)

I can honestly tell you the AR-10 is a TANK. More so even than my .223, 24" bull barreled AR-15. IMHO... If you don't reload, the AR-10 would be a "good" choice. Just be prepared to start a daily upper body work out routine before hunting season. If you DO reload, the WSSM route would be the direction I would take. If the WSSM uppers work on a standard AR-15 upper, you have the makings of your two guns at only a fraction of the cost... Buy the .223 upper of your choice and 20 seconds later... TA-DA... You have your "new" gun!!!

I have had a 243 I built for almost a year now I have to say one thing well two it is scary accurate and it is heavy I have looked at some AR10's and it is just as heavy as they are. But I also have an M1A and the wt is not that big a deal My M1A tips the scale at 9.6 Lbs My 243 WSSM AR is right at 10 LBS they both do what I want them to do I have thought about a AR 10 but my question to myself is why/ I really doo not need to spend that much $$$ for somthing I already have covered. My 243 WSSM ran me right at 1100 bucks with bipod , scope and 5 Mags I think the AR10 starts there with no extras

I have a couple of DPMS LR rifles and a couple of the WSSM rifles. The weight difference is slight. The 308 LR weight is 11# before fluting. My 223 WSSM weight is about 9.8# pounds before fluting, all 4 have 24" bull barrels on them. The price on the WSSM is $1074.00 and the DPMS LR 308 is $1149.00 both are list price and can be bought well under list price.

You're not helping Dan, just making me jealous /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
But, Thanks for the info!

So now I'm leaning more towards the AR15 with a 25wssm upper, but then I start looking at all the 6mm upper options. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Arghhh.

So many choices, so little money.

I used to sell boat-loads of the AR-10's, and built plenty of custom uppers for them. Since I started building the WSSM's, my AR-10 sales have been nonexistent.

I still have an A-4 Armalite in .243 Winchester. This has the 20" skinny barrel and plastic handguards. The gun, without optics, weighs 9 pounds. The 20" 25 WSSM's that I build, with the 20" skinny barrel, weigh 5.95 pounds and sell for $997.00. I do love my Armalite A-4, and I've taken some nice game with it, but it is HEAVY and no where near as accurate or hard-hitting as my WSSM.
