I purchased a 12.5 inch 8.6 Blackout a while back and had numerous issues with poor accuracy running subsonic ammo so I decided to change it into a 308. I sent the upper back to the dealer and he replaced the 8.6 barrel with a 10 twist 12.5 inch 308 barrel.
I have no interest in running a 308 subsonic and after searching ran across the Fiochi SBR Enhanced 308 ammo. I sighted it in at 50 yards to start and I really haven't done any real accuracy or velocity testing. This ammo is loaded for SBR barrels and according to the published information it is supposed to burn out the powder load in an 11 inch barrel.
The bullet used is the Hornady SST which should be effective on hogs so I took it along last night for a field test. I had spooked this boar off the plot earlier because he was standing behind a tree in broad daylight when I went in to set up but I figured he might come back in after dark. He surprised me by showing up again 30 minutes later in broad daylight.
When he came in I expected him to head for the corn pile but he was skittish and was about to head back into the woods so I decided to try to get a round into him. I was hesitant to swing my rifle with the suppressor in full view outside the shooting blind and as you can see I hit him a few inches behind where the shot needed to be for a DRT kill. The SST bullet did the job though and I found him about 15 yards from where I shot him.
The landowner came to help drag him out and it took both of us to get him back out to the road. He was 250 lbs plus easy.
The scope is a dual lens AGM Clarion 384 I recently purchased. (I forgot to turn on the audio).
