Ar15 Verticle grip for hunting ? Yes or no ?

How many of you guys use a vertical grip on your AR15 barrel forearm for predator hunting? I think I am going to ad one to my 16 inch bushmaster gun. This gun is dedicated to night hunting with a D760 NV Scope on it. I am 58 this year and gun seems heavy for me this year. Also think I might put one on my day hunting bushmaster AR15 16 inch gun also. It really helps me get crosshairs settled on coyotes. What say you guys ? Marty

I would be somewhat indifferent to the idea, but I only have one gun with a verticle grip. That one is a CX-4 'Storm' in 40 cal, mostly a range shooter.

I had the 'Steady Grip' on a Benelli M2 shotgun, slightly different I know. I liked it great for predator hunting, but then put a regular stock on the gun to make it more all-around. It also fits in a case much better without that verticle grip.

Back to your gun weight issue, I usually lean lighter weight for a gun that gets carried a lot & shot just a little. Those heavier guns are fine for the range or dogtown, but a pain to lug around.

Mag-Pul thumb rest and proper hold is pretty dern steady. I don't think I'd ever like a vert grip on a hunting or otherwise AR.

I use a magpul vg on my hunting AR, seems silly on a hunting gun but I've tried with and without it and I like it. I've thought about cutting an inch or so off the bottom because I still shoot with my thumb over the handguard, I don't hold the vertical grip completely like a vertical grip. I like it because with it on I hold the gun tighter against my shoulder without added effort and with large gloved hands it gives my a great big positive hold when coyotes may be flying in quick.

I wouldnt like it personally because it would be so different from my form on any other rifle. It might also get in the way if you want to shoot prone or lean aim. I'm sure it will work but personally I would rather use a less intrusive angled fore grip like othere have mentioned.
