Armalite 1 piece scope mount

For those of you who have these on your AR's... i have one and put it on with the nobs on the left side

(gunsmith I talked to said the nobs would be to close to the ejection port, and shells would hit it constantly). I really think i need it turned around, nobs on the right leaning forward to achieve the scope relief that fits me best. How do you have yours mounted and do the nobs on the right get in the way of the ejection port?
Thanks in advance for hte help.

If you have enough eye relief and the mount is on the receiver rail (which it is in your pic), it doesn't make any difference. I had my Model One mount (same thing you have with a 1/2 inch built-in riser) set up like yours and it worked just fine.
If you need more eye relief, you'll need to spin the mount so you can get the front of the scope forward of the end of the rail.
I've never had a case hit the mount knobs, I think that's BS.

Now there's a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about and isn't afraid to prove it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Let's see, Armalite (a manufacturer of ARs) would design a mount so the ejected brass would hit the mounting screws. I really don't think so. I have one, by the way. No problem.

Don't worry about the Knobs. The Mount will only work for you One way. If you turn it around the Mount of the Scope will be too far the other direction. If it is set for the Proper Eye Relief now leave it alone and get a new Gunsmith.

My understanding is that scope mount is designed to work either way depending on eye releif of the scope being used. It works in which ever way it fits you best for proper eye relief.

Now shut up and shoot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have two Armalite mounts, screws on right side, never had brass hit the mount screws! Get another gunsmith, as this one doesn't know jack s.
My scopes are mounted farther forward than yours appears in the picture. If that eye relief works for you, it's not hurting anything, but the mount is designed to have the screws on the right.

Do yourself a favor and find a new gunsmith.
You need one anyways as the one you have is only pretending.
The reason the mount is built the way it is, is so you can mount the scope forward to get proper eye relief with the proper cheek weld on your stock.
AR's are difficult to do this with because they lack the drop comb that most rifles have as they were designed to have fixed sights that sit pretty high on the receiver (carry handle).
Try it the other way and see how you like it.
I have several of these mounts and swear by them.
BTW...I don't have any mounted the way that your "GUNSMITH" recommended.

I don't know if it matters what side the screw heads are on. The (removable) carry handle and Trijicon ACOG screw heads are on the left side.

Funny... But i went back and told the gunsmith that 1) the relief wasn't enough, and 2) I got made fun of because the mount was on backwards. I told him I wanted him to change it for me and since i paid him last time to do it, and boresight it, i assume he would do this again at no charge, especially since i mentioned it the last time I was in. He said he would change it for me, but that it was WRONG, Nobs should always be on the left. I just laughed it off and had him do it... maybe i will find a new gunsmith, i just don't really know that many in Dallas. Anyway, Thanks for the help. Relief is much better now, and it sure looks a [beeep] of alot better turned around the RIGHT way.

(BTW, i didn't tell him i got made fun of, and if any of you know of a good Gunsmith in Dallas let me know).
