Armasight Vampire

Has anyone had any experience with the Armasight Vampire nv scope? I am looking for a quality optic that won't break the bank. It seems to get good reviews, but would like some real world words of wisdom from actual users. Thanks.

I had one but returned it. It's not bad for the money, but it just didn't work out for me. The crosshair is somewhat thick, and your eye has to be positioned just right in order to see the crosshair well. Just a slight move of your eye to one side will cause the crosshair to fade. I couldn't seem to adjust the ocular to my eyes though granted my eyes are not great, so that alone was the main deciding factor for returning it, plus the critical eye position. My son could see the crosshair more sharply than I could. The 3x magnification was lacking to me though I did shoot a gray fox at about 50-55 yards. My Pulsar Apex XQ38 with its 2.2x magnification is easier to obtain a good aim due to a fine dot reticle.

As to light-gathering ability, it's not bad for a Gen 1, though you will need a good illuminator. Resolution is very good. I would probably have kept the scope if I could have focused it better for my eyesight.

For me though, after having experienced both, I would choose the ATN X-Sight 2 for less money, or the new 4K in 3-14x for about the same cost. They are more versatile and give a good daytime color view. With the push of a couple of buttons you can go to night mode, and the ballistic calculator is just peachy keen. They aren't without issues sometimes though, but overall not a bad scope for the money and my choice over the Vampire. Just my personal opinion.
