Anyone considering the new line of ATN OTS 4T thermal monocular for use as a scanner? Not sure when they are projected to be released..but they have both 384 and 640 versions coming out and they include a range finder. Native magnification of 1.0 will be available also.
Thoughts? Anyone looked at them on the ATN website?

It is good to have options. I know some Predator Masters users have great, some OK, and some horrible experiences with ATN. If you fall in the Great or even OK category, you might be OK with your purchase. The combination of quality and customer service are probably the two most important factors. If you ask the main thermal dealers why they don't carry ATN, it is because of issues both of these factors. I can't imagine spending thousands of dollars on a brand/company with these two factors being potential issues. What ATN is very good at is marketing.

A few positive things are these appear to have a long battery life and they have lots of models available. When I compare the 384 models to the Hogster, the ATN is a little cheaper. However, the Hogster 25 and 35 are so much more versatile being a scope and scanner, have an additional year of warranty, a history of quality, customer service, and more.

If I look at the 640 models of this new ATN scanner, and compare it to the Bering Optics Phenom, the Phenom is actually considerably less expensive, and it is actually a 640x480 12µm sensor, so I can only assume it will have a better image, and again a longer warranty and good customer service to back it. I will begin using the 12µm Phenom starting next week, so you will start to see what this thermal is capable of.
