If that ATN sight is any thing at all like my ATN night vision scope, then it is worth the money. I recently bought a ATN Aeries series scope, and for 412 bucks and its made in the USA, I am impressed so far.
I have experience with the 1st generation army gear and this ATN scope beats the [beeep] out of the 1st generation army stuff, in my opinion.
This scope has an infrared light mounted on top of the scope and it really lights up an area. This scope is good for about 100 yards at night, maybe further if a full moon is out with snow on the ground. I got it zeroed for about 60 yards, up here we have a lot of brush and timbered mountains, so the shots are close in.
When you look thought the lens the area around the cross hair is very clear, but if you move your eye away from the cross hair there is a fish eye effect, with a little blurring towards the edges.
A couple of nights ago I took this scope up to the spring, where the cedar grove is and to try it out. It was black as India ink under the thick cedar canopy, no light at all.
I sat there in the dark for about 15 minutes to let things settle down and then turned the scope and infrared light on. The power indicator lights for the scope and infrared light were lighting up the tree trunks a few feet away! These power indicator lights are very bright, to bright. Now I put electrical tape over the lights before I go out.
I did some calling and had three whitetail does show up. The eyes of these deer reflected the infrared light like some kind of monster in a X box game, really weird looking.
These battery powered optics do have the dead battery illness in cold weather, so keep warm spares to change out when you have too. I say go for the ATN Dude...........
