Automotive GPS

Does anyone have a GPS in their car/suv for navagating. We are thinking of doing some traveling next summer for a month or two and have been looking at the Lowrance iWay 500 GPS unit. Anyone, anyone, anyone.

I've got my laptop mounted in my truck and I use Delorme Street Atlas software in conjunction with the Delorme Tripmate GPS. Nothing like it for taking a trip.

I never get lost, I just end up in places that I hadn't planned on being at that particular time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've often thought about one for the car, but never was able to convince myself I needed one for navigation. Driving the car, I have the route planned out from available maps and in mind, so I don't have to be a driving robot attentive to a GPS constantly to keep on course. And, there's always Internet based travel programs for printing out specific directions to some spot I'm going to.
If I'm going off road, I do have a Garmin 76CS for navigating. But off road, there isn't other traffic to worry about, so I have time to stop on a two track and navigate.
In an airplane, I wouldn't be without a GPS. GPS's have transformed naviagting in a small plane. Or a boat. There, they are invaluable too. If I owned a boat, it would have the best GPS installed.

I've never used a GPS. And I've never been lost. Like I tell my wife, I ALWAYS know exactly where I'm at. I'm where I'm standing at that particular moment. It's just at times I don't know for sure how to get where I'm going or from. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I use a garmin V and I love it. It has enhanced our traveling a bunch! My only regret is not buying one with more memory.
