I haven't posted in a while but I thought I would share a pic of some foxes I called yesterday morning. It's been a great year so far.

The Fur mag is saying 30-45 in the lastest issue. So 30 or maybe 40 on a great one would be about right.

But, personally anytime i think that i can get more than $20 it's worth it, if only for the experience of processing the fur. I figure that I am getting better, but I would imagine that most of us that skin and put up skins take about 30-45 minutes to put up each (total time touching and dealing with each)

Standman,

Just curious where you got these foxes? I assume it was close by and with the snow on the ground was wondering where. My Bro in Law has a cousin that moved from Alaska to Arizona and he said he lives near Flagstaff and they have snow up in the mountains. And this cousin is a non-hunter. But when he said snow in AZ I never thought of that at all.

Cool looking foxes by the way.

I know what you mean about the kit fox here in so cal. I call lots of them down in the desert. In the mountains I target rock piles and I'm able to call in quite a few gray's.

I have been predator hunting for the last 3 years and have called several coyotes. I feel like I have a grasp on how to get the job done with my alpha dog and my trust dpms. However have never called in a fox. I always have heard there dumb but never have even seen on except in the deer stand. Is there different calls that work better for foxes. I have always had my best luck with ra adult cottontail.

I live in the White Mountains in the eastern part of the state. We are about 3 hrs from Flagstaff. We get quite a bit of snow.

cotton tail and the same things as coyotes work well. Also fox distress works well.
They are stupid..
I have shot at one, missed, and kept calling only to have it come right back. There are video's of people shooting them with shotguns and almost having to kick them back to shoot them since they were too close.

Out here, if i spot a fox, i always grab the shotgun and wait.. Most of the time I try to see how close i can shoot them to the call. usually it's within a few feet.

As for the weather Logstove, Az has amazingly diverse landscape. We have airid desert sand dunes, thin scrub brush desert, thick lush desert, rolling grass lands, forests, snow, and then the badlands and other stuff. I get out and hunt most of the state, and I have a large tote with saftey gear, and stuff for all area's.. One thing that i have learned in AZ is that if you want to hunt predators, other than in your back yard area, you had better be prepared for all the different eviornments, temps, and conditions.

I have hunted in Phx area in the AM wearing a long sleeve shirt, then mid way up the state in the brush and grass at lunch, to wearing jackets and snow pants at sunset, and camped in the back of my truck and woke up at the south rim of the Grand Canyon to -10 the next morning with 4 inches of snow on the ground.
