Badger Problems

I've got a badger in my pastures. What is the easiest way to get them. I call coyotes some but have never called in a badger. They are really becoming a problem with all the holes they are digging. I only have about 80 acres of pasture and it is surrounded by flat center pivot farm ground. Holes are all over but have never seen any of the little bastards. Is trapping them the best way to go? Hunting them seems to be based on pure luck.

Thanks in advance.

I have called in badgers before so it can be done, they are not hard to trap just like yote's use dirthole and flat set's.
Good luck!!!

The answers you got stink!
The correct answer to your problem is to trap them. Wait for a fresh snow fall at night. First thing in the morning well the snow is fresh and follow the Badger tracks to a hole where the tracks go in but do not come out. This will be the hole the Badger is in and with all luck the only exit.
Depending on the slope of the hole drive two rebar stakes into the ground to attach the trap to so the trap and Bager dont dissappear back into the hole. Tie a pink flag to the re bar so you can find them easily. Set your trap and come back the following morning.

Give me a shout if you need more details.
Badgers are a family animal and usually there are more badgers than you are aware of! Dont be suprised to see more than one denning up in the same hole.

220 Conibear placed over the hole would work. The badgers I've seen weren't "little bastards"; they were actually quite forminable creatures with lots of teeth and muscle. Ouch!

IF your gonna be using a Connibear trap bend the trigger up high on them!! A badger is quick enough that if he hits the trigger in the factory posistion he can get out of there quick enough that he will not be caught. Bend them up so he has to come farther through the trap before triggering that way you will have more sucess. Watch one of em if there not dead they are just UGLY mean at the best of times never mind wounded!!! They are nothin but teeth, claws, muscle, and attitude definately a creature worth attention and respect. Hope this helps ya some!!!

Possibly the reason they seem to get out of the 220 is when you set it over the hole it will bounce off of the ground a little when it goes off. If it does not hit the ground it works better. A quick smack in the forehead usually shows how weak they are there.T.20
