I was asked to post this info when I got it so here you you guys go. For more background info on this gun please search this forum,
Gun was 250$ new, scope was 92$ also new.

---------------------
I went to the Range today, sighted in the scope and then did some load testing on my recently acquired Russian EAA IZH-94 Combo gun, chambered in 12g shotgun over 6.5X55 Swede rifle. The scope is a Tasco EXP 1.5-5X x 32/44 oval obj. The beauty of this scope is its 5" eye relief.

Ammo consisted of various charges of:
IMR 4895,
85grn Sierra HP (chosen as its the lowest grn available)
Swede mil-surp primed brass, 1960's vintage .

(The berdan brass and primers I got by pulling the pellet and powder out of some Swede Gallery-Ammo that I got dirt-cheap a few years ago) The only variable for today was the powder charge which ranged from 40.5grn to 43.5grn in .5grn intervals. OAL was consistent (bullet just barely seated in the case)

Wind was varying up to 10mph,
temp was 95*
Distance shooting was 100yds
Scope on 5X
Factory Trigger Wt (about 8-9lbs pull)
Shooter made some flyers by jerking the trigger once in a while /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I placed a Quarter ( US 25cent ) in the picture for reference.

In the below picture there should be 7 Holes, but I only count 6, didnt remember any obvious flyers ?

Heres a picture of my lil-bro shooting it from a few weeks ago. I was real sneaky and let him shoot some quail loads, then slapped in a 3" #4buck on him... heehee... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif didnt really phaze him though ???

Robb I am seriously impressed! I did not think that those setups were capable of that kind of accuracy.

Actually I didn't think that you were either, double surprise this morning eh?

Thanks alot Craig !

HAHAHA... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When you consider I was using a 5X scope  , a couple of blocks of wood as a rifle rest  , and that xtra heavy trigger   , it doesnt look too bad !

Heck Craig, I can shoot "paper" all day / all night... its when you put a critter in front of me, that causes problems /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I left the range as a Happy-Guy. No question there.

Looks like it will be a worthwhile investment to get the triggers worked on afterall. Another Summer-Project ahead of me !

Alright Robb, now I've got it straight. How do you like the IZH- 94? It seems to shoot ok,what don't you like about it?

Oh really theres only a few things that I can gripe about (but then again, it is a 250$ gun)

----Triggers too heavy (this is the biggest gripe, and I plan on getting some work done, as its the only REAL problem)

----Metal Finish is kinda "plum colored", typical of Russian stuff

----Getting a rifle cartridge OUT of the gun, you have to wiggle the brass a little bit to get it past the extractor pin (sucked at first, but its getting more "no-brainer" all the time)

----Scope Rail is rather short, but the Tasco EXP scope (5 inch eye relief) fits perfect for it. More of a "potential problem" than a real one.

----Fixed choke on this gun (but really anything past 30 yards is getting a rifle bullet instead of a load of buckshot, so that is kinda moot.)

All that being said, would I still recommend this gun as a tool for coyote calling ?, yes. especially for the price.

Thanks Robb,I guess if a guy were gonna camo paint it the finish isn't critical. Any chance getting ejectors put in?
Redfrog

It has extractors, but not "ejectors"... Ill take a pic when I get home.

To "add" Ejectors...
I dont know if you could do it, but youd have to make it "smart".... (IE: only "ejects" spent ammo, I have a SxS that can do this) so if I shoot a coyote with #4buck, and want to throw in another shotshell real quick, that I dont have to worry about losing the rifle shell being thrown out of there and/or having to load 2 chambers again...

This would be a PERFECT gun to camo-up, you wouldnt think twice about it, at least with the beech furniture I got on it! For a few extra bucks you can get Walnut furniture if youre so inclined.

Ya Robb, My break shotguns have ejectors. Sounds as though this could be a coyote killer if a guy could get the ejectors happening at a reasonable price.I can't stand extractors.
Redfrog

That would make a great calling rifle, I didn't expect it to shoot that good. Maybe I can buy one for my wife, of course if she don't use it I can.

Thanks Rob for posting those groups.

Robb, that looks like coyote gear! I looked up the EAA website and they advertise that model as having different choke tubes??? Why do you suppose your's is fixed?
Thanks for the pictures.

Bob

P.S. I think my wife needs one of thiose too

RE: Fixed Shotgun Barrel:
Limited Production of somesort ?

The only ones at CDNN Investments that are 250$ are in Rifle Cal.s 6.5x55 and 7x57... both with fixed chokes...

I honestly think that the rifle can shoot much better groups than what I presented... even as they are, they are better than I anticipated. That was just my first run at the range with some thrown together loads. A trigger job will make a SERIOUS difference.

Ill keep you guys up to date with any improvements and their results...
