Watch the video. It's sickening what this JBT did to a CHILD. There aren't real crimes in Baltimore? Is it any wonder people have lost respect for the police?

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
A 17-year veteran of the Baltimore police force has been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation of his actions involving a 14-year-old skateboarder at Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

The confrontation occurred this past summer and was caputured on a video camera by the young man's friend, who just sent it to YouTube, where it is now posted.

In the video, Officer Salvatore Rivieri tells the boy that skateboarding is illegal. The officer becomes angry when the boy says, "I didn't do anything wrong, dude."

Officer Rivieri is seen grabbing the skateboard and pushing the boy to the ground.
"The police commissioner and the mayor and the top command staff saw the video this morning and are disappointed. The officer has been suspended with pay, pending an internal investigation," Sterling Clifford told Richard Sher.

In an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News, 14-year-old Eric Bush told Richard Sher, "He was just like up in my face yelling at me. Then he tackled me."
He continued, "It was scary, because I have diabetes and my blood sugar went crazy 'cause he scared me."

"I called to file a complaint but was told the supervisor was on vacation and would call me when he returned. He never did," Eric's mother, Peggy Miller, said.

Looks to me like the full story is pretty evident, its a wonder the kid didn't get tased. Two things that may bring stuff like this to a stop is the knowledge that cameras are everywhere and the internet for the whole world to see.

I'll reserve my opinion till the full story comes out.

When I saw it this morning the one thing the media pointed out was that the camera was turned on after this all started. Whether it will make a difference in what we saw, who knows but I can't see drawing a conclusion without all the facts.

After watching the video it is very obvious the officer lost his cool and abused his authority and went overboard with this kid and should never have put his hands on him and shoved him to the pavement. He needs to look for another job because he isn't suited for the job he has now.
The video doesn't lie. There is a right and wrong way to handle a situation like this and he in my opinion chose the wrong way. There are Good officer and there are bad ones who think wearing a badge gives them the right to push other around in the name of the law. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

I ususally reserve judgement on these type of things until more evidence comes out. Well, more evidence apparently has come out on this cop. It seems that last year he took a disliking to an artist (at least that's what he called himself) who was videotaping the reactions of passersby to one of his creations that involved some kind of remote controlled car covered by a box. This cop didn't like what he saw, kicked the box, and threatened to kick the artist's a**. From what I understand, this was all on tape.

This guy sounds like a loose cannon. He deserves a fair hearing, but if he's found to have abused his state-sanctioned authority, he needs to find a new line of work before he escalates a situation to a plane it never would have reached with a more even-tempered peace officer and someone gets hurt.

If this man is found guilty of abusing his authority, I would hope he's dumped summarily and not reassigned to a desk job. Behavior like this gives a black eye to decent, respectful peace officers (I HATE the term LEO) who usually do a good job, even if a good portion of what they have been tasked to do is unConstitutional.
