Baretta Silver Pigeon II

I sold a couple of guns last week and bought a minty used Silver Pigeon II, 12 gauge. It didn't seem to help my skeet shooting much but I sure look good shooting it. LOL! Any pro's and con's I should know about??

Beretta O/U's are some of the strongest and toughest guns on the market. My first one, an early Onyx had over 50,000 rounds and still going strong when I traded it off. I wish I had it back but I had a brief dalliance with SxS shotguns and soon realized I'm an O/U guy and always will be. I have several Berettas in all gauges but 410 and cannot say enough good about them. The Silver Pigeon is a good looking gun and a great gun as well. I dare you to wear it out.

I bought a 686 Onyx and never could shoot it and sold it to my hunting buddy. He shoots well with it.

The Berettas are very well built and very easy to rebuild with replaceable trunions and locking lugs.

My old Win 101 circa 1966 has over a quarter million rounds through it and is still going strong, you still can't close it with a sheet of computer paper on the face of the breech. I did have to replace a pair of firing pins after shooting a pile of heavy loaded Chinese shells.

I am another Beretta O\U guy. Wingshooting is about gun fit. Beretta fits me and I shoot them well. Their design, materials and fit and finish are top notch. If the Beretta fits you there is no downside, they're all good.

I'm not an overly good skeet shooter but do enjoy shooting it with my club buddies. We shoot at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. A couple of them checked me out on the Beretta and say it fits me pretty good.I have certain stations that still kick my tail but slowly I'm getting better....very slowly. LOL! But I don't give up and we still have a great time. I really like the Beretta and can't blame it for my miss's. My smith checked the gun out and said who ever owned it before me shot it very little and there was a ton of life left in it. So now its up to me to learn the game.
