Took hour and half this morning to do some chucking with the 17 HMR. Took 5 chucks coming from under the barn. 2 juveniles 2 females and the big male was 9.2 lbs.
Barn 'chucks are kind of cute. Kinda... But dang can they do some damage. I've had several folks contact me over the years to come try and get rid of them. One time, on my way to hunt 'chucks, got stopped for road construction and the lady holding the sign started chatting me up. When she asked where I was headed and I told her rock chuck hunting, she practically begged me to come kill the barn 'chucks on her property. Her place was actually pretty much on my way and the timing wouldn't conflict with my plans. So I camped in her pasture and killed the heck out of her barn 'chucks the next morning.
