Barrel Twist Rate Test....?

Just wondering if there is a test of some type that can tell me what twist rates are in my different rifles without having to check out each one with the manufacturer...?

Create as snug patch on your cleaning rod jag or brush...Mark the rod with a magic marker at the entry to the receiver when the patch is securely in the barrel, place another mark on top of the rod near the handle...

As you are pushing the rod through the barrel, place a second mark on the rod when the mark near the handle has made one full revolution as it's going through the barrel...

Withdraw the rod and measure the distance between the entry and final mark..That will tell you your twist rate...12in = 1/12, 9" = 1/9, etc...

Thanks OT.... I'll try that... I knew there must be a simple test...

Seems like there should be some type of universal measuring rod that will work for several calibers...
