Howdy Y'all

I need help upgrading batteries from 12 D cells to larger size, longer lasting batteries. Not sure if it is possible, or how to go about it. Thanks in advance.

Is the battery configuration 12V? If it is, I feel sure you can use a 12V SLA battery as long as you have the correct wiring adaptor. Come in, Lowtempguru, do you read me?

I am unsure of voltage supplied by 12 D batteries. Hope someone can help or tell me it's a better option to go modern digital. I just don't want to lose the real recordings of live animals used on cassette tapes.

I think you are better off going modern digital for a lot of reasons, and the quality of the sounds is one of them. I am not putting down Johnny Stewart sounds as I use some of them myself, but the quality of cassette tapes leaves a lot to be desired. On top of that, tapes get messed up and they can be noisy.

As for the voltage on batteries, it should tell you right on the D battery how many volts it is rated, just like aa batteries are 1.2V.

I'm not well versed in the JS cassette players, I know in my JS record players that take 12 D cells, 6 batteries run the amplifier and the other 6 run the amplifier. Perhaps D cell rechargeables would be something to think about.

the old 12 cell tape players are wired the same way.
