Bear sounds for electronic calls

I was wondering if anyone offers sounds directed for calling bears on electronic calls? I've seen sounds, for deer, bobcat, mt.lion, elk, duck, crow, you name it. What sounds would one use for bears and are any available for any of the e-callers on market today?

Thanks beforehand for any info.

Black bear adult distress
Black bear adult defending food (calls mature bears)
Black bear adults fighting (calls mature bears)
Black bear baby (whining itself to sleep-calls bears)
Black bear baby distress (1 month old-calls bears and most predators)
Black bear baby distress (4 months old-calls bears and most predators)
Black bear food begging (6 months old-calls bears and predators)

These are in wildlife technologies master sound list.

Good luck

FoxPro also has a Bear Cub Distress sound #253

Good sounds that work on bear here in Alaska are: Moose Calf Distress, Fawn Distress Sounds, Sheep/Lamb Distress. I imagine Fawn sounds would probably work anywhere in North America since bear and deer overlap about everywhere. Hope that helps a bit.

I've called a number of black bears and pulled in a couple of grizzlies with low raspy sounds that in the early days of calling were called jackrabbit distress. Now we sometimes label similar sounds bear cub or fawn distress (Primos 313 Coyote Bear Buster is an excellent hand call example of the sound I'm describing, and a good call. The Modern Calls jackrabbit likewise). So in addition to bear cub & fawn etc., most of the jack rabbit and some of the snowshoe hare distress sounds on e-callers should work for bears.

VirginiaCoyote,

One of the best sounds that you can use for calling black bear is a bear cub distress. The sound will not only attract sows, but boars as well. I remember speaking with someone a few years back that had stated that one of the best sounds that they had used for calling bears was a coyote and fawn sound(#214). You will find that just about any distress sound that you would use for a coyote can also attract a bear. This is especially true in early spring when they just come out of hibernation, and also late fall just before they go into hibernation. We also have a new bear cub distress that we have not released yet that is a great sound. We are working with the PA Game Commission to record more bear sounds. Good luck with your bear hunting!

Wow! Funny you say that Mike, One of my outtings using the FOXPRO caller produced the same response using the coyote fawn sound (214) It was an early summer outting and one of the few times I use a treestand (glad I did!)

The Bear was in on the sound in a matter of seconds as I remember. As I was told, Bear are more of Fawn killers in the Early summer than any other predator!(quick protein replacement suppliment after hibernating) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Man was that bear ticked when there was not anything there to chow on!

The Bear acted similiar to an encouter I had with one when I was with Gary Alt, who was the Pennsylvania Bear Biologist at the time, Huffing and Puffing and swaying back and forth mad as hec! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I now avoid that sound during early summer here in Maine, unless I have fire power superiority and I'm positioned in an elevated firing position!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Vaportrail,

The PA Game Commission also has stated that the #1 fawn killer here in PA is the black bear. This was a report from 2 years ago. It is my belief that this is no longer the case, as our coyote population is growing at such a rapid pace.

Mike:
We also have a new bear cub distress that we have not released yet that is a great sound.

Would that possibly be available with the FX5?

VirginiaCoyote,

Yes, we actually plan on releasing about 20 of our new sounds in about a month, well before the release of the FX5 (and there are some great sounds in this release!)
