beartooth comb riser

Anyone using one of these? Out of all the comb risers I've checked out I liked the looks of this the best. From what I've seen they seem to get good reviews. Plus I think I can sew my cartridge holder onto it and have a slim, lightweight rest that will hold extra rounds.
Opinions?

Not sure I want to go with the adjustable kydex (Karstens, etc.)ones I've seen, although I like them, I don't like the cost or the work involved. I'm pretty sure I don't want one of the strap/tie on ones with pockets, etc. Too bulky for my tastes.

A couple of concerns I would have is the bolt hitting it upon cycling, and it slipping around on stock. Also in the rain/snow I wouldn't want my cheek on a soaking wet rest that absorbs water. Just some thoughts. I don't have one, but do have a Beartooth stock kit on an AR. No cheek riser though.

I have Karstens and Eagle that I use......

Very slim chance that it will see any rain, very little snow. Whatever I end up getting will be on my .22-250, so coyotes and groundhogs. If I can manage to round up the cash for a fox friendly gun, the .22-250 will probably mainly be a groundhog and spring/summertime coyote gun.

I just mentioned that because I have gotten my Beartooth wet before. You have to make sure to take it off or it can stain a wooden stock if left on wet.....

I thought about one, not sure how I'd like it. Don't have much need for a pouch on the gun, my cabela's vest has enough pockets. I do like having a cartridge holder though. I guess what mainly concerns me is not being able to get high enough to get a good sight picture while keeping my cheek weld. I'm sure it's a contributing factor to my poor shooting at long range woodchucks, not the only factor, just a contributing one.

It's a savage model 10, has a weaver classic extreme 4-16x50 on it. I dont feel I'm getting a good cheek weld, at least one that's comfortable for me.

I am sure you have thought of shorter rings. I use the Karsten style and the Blackhawk on assorted rifles. I prefer the Karsten, but you first have to screw up the courage to drill 2 holes in your stock. It is easy to do, just make sure it is far enough back to allow the bolt to be removed while it is in place prior to drilling your holes. There are others that style like the Karsten and I have use them. They work the same and are $35 or so vice the $65 for a karsten. Google them and you will find the less expensive ones.

Not hard at all, but I been drilling holes in stuff my whole life. Be careful, take your time, measure it up right and make sure it will be adjusted properly, then drill.

Thanks guys. I did try some of the various shorter rings I have laying around, but none would work. Debated on buying a set of the low millets, but don't want stuck with them if they don't work.

Jr get on midway or do a google search for how to measure the ht of rings and the check the differnet ring manufacturers and see what there ht is. I ran through this with a rifle and ended up finding one that fits just right. There are a lot of varibles in ring ht. Low to low on 2 differnet manufactures will have different hts. Just in case you did not know. If you do then disreguard.
