Beaver Call

I'm thinking about taking a second mortgage so I can afford a Wildlife technologies call. Has anyone tried the baby beaver in distress? It may be fun to mess with the local beavers during summer evenings. I wonder if you could get them out of the water for some photos?

why don't you get IN the water with them and make that distress sound? just kidding. you could put out some beaver castor scent out on a bank about 3 feet from the water and get out there right before dark, settle in good, conceal yourself, and wait for the beaver to come around out of the water to cover the scent with his own scent.

You can also poke a hole in the beaver dam. The beaver(s) will come out to fix the hole and you'll get your pictures with no cash investment. BeaverWeb has a great idea too. Skip the wt.

I understand that beavers really LOVE maple tree bark. I have had a tape recorder hidden next to my neighbor's maple tree for a week now. Still no luck in recording the bark of that tree though.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not getting the WT for beaver, I'm getting it for wolves. It just sounded like fun to get the beaver sound and watch their reaction. There is a beaver near my house in a closed area that is huge. I've trapped lots of 60lb beaver and they would look like kits next to this one. I saw him on the bank just once and he looked like a bear.
Rich, if you want to record a bark, try a dogwood tree, the maple is too sweet to bark much.

I can't believe Encore has not left his mark on this thread. I'm afraid the boy's been docked! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
