Hey guys I have a beaver problem down in my woods. I dont know if its only one or how many there are, but it is chewing down all the trees!
I hunt down there along that creek bottom (for deer) And the beaver is daming up the creek and starting to flood the bottom. Any advice on how to remove him would be great. dead or alive Thanks

It's probably more than one beaver. If you want to trap them, get a few snares rigged up to drowning wires. Tear out a little bit of the dam in the middle and put a snare there. Old beav comes back to rebuild, u hook'em.

Hey Bozzer what part of Ohio you from? I live in Ohio as well and I have dealt with quite a few beavers over the years. I may be able to give you some advice on the beaver's in your area. I once helped a buddy, who lost a beautiful wooden canoe to a beaver. Them beavers can do some real damage if left unchecked!

Bozzer, trapping would be the way to go for sure.If you don't trap or know someone who does, try this http://www.ohiostatetrapper.org/. should be able to find someone in your area that would likely be happy to look after them beavers.Or you can break holes in dams and get comfy with a shotgun all nite, but you mite want to check the laws on that one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Good Luck

Beavers aren't typically lumped in with the varmint category by most states, so use caution. In Kansas you can't shoot them unless they're doing excessive damage. Your local wildlife dept may be able to recommend options. We typically shoot them. Make a break in the dam on a full moon night and stand back. They'll show up quickly to patch it. Rimfires are not ideal.

Oh no! They're going to do in our national animal! We have a hell of a problem with them also. In the spring a lot of people can't even get to their cottages to open them because beaver have blocked and flooded the dirt roads. Some people do indeed use dynamite to bust up their dams. They're destructive little buggers (but cute!). Best wishes.

I'dgo with the 330 connibear body grip trap! That is what I use alomost all the time here.

Set them in a run, or under a dive pole in teh beavers swimming channel...BAM!!!! Dead beaver!

There are many parts of the country that too many beaver (four legged) are destroying the enviorment. Most conservation depts., corps of engineers, and almost every other group realize this problem. Around here they are shot at night with full choke shotguns loaded with 000 or 00 shot under spotlight. Also when this is done after shooting one stop for a few minutes and look around there are more. If there is one beaver there are more, very social animal. I am sure this is against most or all laws, but just at dusk is when they usually come out, and go back in around first light. Find where they den and you can help your situation .

We had the same problem here teh last 3 years and got a adc permit from fish and game and have been using rifles on them. We kill between 50-75 a summer and you cant even tell teh difference!
