I generally tape the stock from the rear of the action then past the recoil lug at least 2-3 inchs past. I always drill a few holes in the areas where the bedding is going to sort of "lock" it in. Everything gets a coat of One Shot and I let it dry ( dries fast) then usually another coat. When I say everything, I mean the areas up to at least where the bedding will be. Action screws get coated and usually one layer of electrical tape on the front side and bottom of the recoil lug. (Front meaning the side towards the crown.) I use Q-tips to clean up the over flow.Something I forgot to mention is I use MarineTex. It stays where you put it.
