Benelli M2 bolt is locked and wont release.

I have a new M2. I've fired it twice so far. I took it out of the case and the barrel would not go all the way on. It lacked about a 1/16th of an inch from sliding in all the way. I noticed there is a tab on the top rear of the hood, that looks like it would line up with a recess in the bolt. But the recess in the bolt is not straight up where it should be. When I activated the bolt release nothing happens. The bolt seems frozen in a rearward position.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to rectify it?

On my M1 when the bolt gets stuck it's because I let the arm on the back of the bolt get out of alignment. This arm should go almost straight back into the stock. I've had this problem a couple times, but it can be solved.

I'd try taking the trigger group out and then carefully "fiddle" with the bolt to see if I could disengage it from its' stuck position.

If no one else responds with a solution PM me and I'll find my owner's manual for the correct names of these parts. Good Luck.

I have a M1 myself. You have to make sure everything is lined up and when you push the barrel down you can hear and feel it lock in place.Haven't taken mine aprat in awhile but make sure the bolt is closed .I've got the Italian manual from Italy and not the best how to pics IMO

Ok, got it worked out. I am not sure why it binded to the rear, but I removed the trigger mech. and tapped it forward and it released. I put it all back together and it works fine.
Thanks.

Bluedeacon, I tested my M1 again and the bolt sometimes gets stuck if I tilt the gun away from it's upright position. I think we just have to remember to keep the gun upright while trying to lock the bolt.
