Benelli Nova Barrel length suggestions

Afternoon all,

I was looking at the Nova as a combo waterfowl/turkey/coyote gun, and was wondering what you all suggest for barrel length?

Not having taken that into account with previous shotgun purchases, i was wondering what the differences in length buy me.

The 2 options I have are 26" and 28"

Thanks in advance,

NM

I have two Novas, one 12 and one 20 guage. Both of mine have 28" barrels but if I had to do it over I would have went with the 26"s. Just a touch quicker to swing.

Not the fanciest shotgun around but the most durable, reliable and simple to work on there is.

Mine came with three chokes tubes each and optional ones are available.

We use ours for pheasants/waterfowl and bunnies mostly.

I like the 26" as skb2706 said, it swings quicker.

Now the Nova I have is very light, too light it kicks pretty good. I ended up adding the mercury filled tube to the butt stock to soften it up and it works. Just brought the price of a cheap shotgun up though....

I have the 24". Couldnt tell you anything as far as hunting with it as I just bought it Saturday and wont get to use it until Friday. I wanted something fast to swing for coyotes and turkeys.

I had the same question two years ago so I e-mailed Tom Knapp, he said the best overall in his opinion was the 26". That is what I got and I love it.

I don't have a Benelli, but my gun is strictly for turkeys and coyotes and I've found the short barrel works well for that use.
