Picked up a Beretta Neos .22LR semi-auto with the 4.5" barrel last week brand new from Gander Mountain. Took it to the range yesterday to see how it performed. Fired 4 different types of ammunition through it. All from a seated/gun resting on bag position with target at approx 10yards away using the factory iron sights. After making a few adjustments to the sights, I started with the testing....

Using Federal Blue Box 40 grain solid rated at 1240FPS and bought for $2.29/box.... a 10 shot group...

Using Federal Spitfire 31 grain hollow point rated at 1500FPS and bought for $2.99/box.... a 10 shot group....

A second 10 shot group...

Using CCI Velocitor 40 grain hollow point rated at 1435FPS and bought for $6.99/box... a 10 shot group...

Using CCI Stinger 32 grain hollow point rated at 1640FPS and bought for $6.99/box... a 10 shot group...

Then another 10 shot group (the ones closest to the bullseye) using the CCI stingers...

All in all it was a good day. Fired over 200 rounds through the gun, which was brand new, pulled from the box. I had stripped it down when I bought it, but there was no grease or any other buildup on it so I just put it back together and took it to the range. Not a single failure to fire, failure to feed, or failure to eject. I'll strip the gun and clean it before the next time I take it out.

The CCI Stinger's seem to be the most accurate so far, but the price doesn't excite me. The Federal Spitfire's did well for their price, so as of right now they'll probably be my go to ammo to grab. I'll leave the Federal Blue Box and CCI Velocitors sitting on the shelf.

I'm going to go to Wal-Mart and grab some different ammo types and try it again this next week. I'll post my results when I do.

Took it out again today, with some Bulk Ammo.... results weren't the greatest, I'll probably sell what's left of each box and keep trying stuff.....

Federal AutoMatch, 1200fps, $17.25/box of 325...

Next up, CCI Blazer, 1235fps, $21/box of 525.... a tad better then the Federal, but not as good as other stuff I've tested....

Just blast through all of the bulk ammo. As long as it feeds well, why not practice and get familiar with your new pistol.

Keep updating us on your pistol. I have often wondered about those pistols, as they seem pretty reasonably priced.

Try Remington Yellow Jackets... have never sat down at the bench and tested it to this extent, but those seem to perform amazingly well in my Neos!! And, YES... they are a fantastic gun for the money! Love it!!

Ya I saw those at Bass Pro the other day. Sounds like I should go back and pick up a box. I had some friends invite me back to the range friday, gives me a good excuse to go!

I still want to try some CCI mini-mags and CCI standard velocity, I heard the Beretta likes both of those, but I've yet to find them in stock anywhere in person (checked Wal-Mart, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro, and my on base gun counter).

Right now, the CCI Stinger is the most accurate, the price just makes me cringe. The Federal Spitfire is a close second though, and the price ain't bad.

I'm approaching 500 rounds through the gun. Cleaned it once at about 300 rounds. Have yet to have a single malfunction. No failure to feed, failure to fire, failure to eject, etc. It's been pretty nice, I have a blast every time I take it to the range.

So far.... I have found the CCI Stinger and the CCI Mini-mags to be the most accurate. The Federal Spitfire a close second. I'll probably start stocking up on the CCI mini-mags as they seem to be my favorite choice so far on cost per round with great accuracy.

Until next time!

Honestly, I couldn't tell you when the last time I sat down with my Neos at the range was. I suppose when I bought it. All I know is... It don't miss much! And, with the Yellow Jackets, it seldom if ever misses at all!

Cool to see it on paper, makes me want to take mine out and see how it prints.

I mean really, with the majority of stuff I've been shooting, it's been accurate enough to kill a rabbit/squirrel/etc... there are some that are obviously better then others, and that was what I was looking for. That way, I've got no excuse as to why I missed besides my own fault! haha!

I'm pretty happy with the CCI stingers, CCI mini-mags, and Federal Spitfires... they'll probably be what I start stocking up on and take hunting with me.

I did take the Neos out with me this morning, went and tried calling at two spots for coyotes (using my AR15 of course, Neos just for final kill shot or maybe a random prairie dog).... I didn't have a chance to shoot it. Saw a bunch of rabbits that I could easily have nailed, but they're out of season. Only prairie dogs I saw where on land I didn't have permission to hunt. And no coyotes came to the call :-( ohh well, trying again this evening!
