Beretta U22 NEOS 22 LR vs Ruger Mark III?

Hello,

I got into steel challenge last year and am looking for a more economical pistol to shoot over my S&W M&P .40 and want to buy a .22 LR. I went to the gun store tonight and was checking out Ruger Mark III's, which a lot of the people shoot at steel challenge but I also came across the Beretta U22 NEOS for about $100 less than the Ruger ($249 vs $339).

I am curious how the Beretta stacks up against the Ruger?

Here's what I've gathered....
For the average plinker, you can't beat the Beretta based on the price and out of the box accuracy. The Ruger, however, is hands down the better competition gun. The trigger on the Beretta leaves a lot to be desired in competition. Not too mention the aftermarket do-dads for the Rugers OR the Buckmarks. I've actually been told by lots of folks in the know that it is cheaper to mod a Buckmark than a Ruger(and easier to clean).

Take it as $0.02, because I'm in the same boat as you. I like the Buckmarks and 22/45s(instead of the MkIIIS), but the Berettas are really nice for less than $250.

I don't care for most Ruger stuff but have been shooting their 22LR pistols for almost 50 years. They should have stuck to the rimfire pistols. They are great.
