Berger 55gr .20 Cal bullet discontinued!

I believe there are a fair amount of 20-250 shooters, as well as others, that, like myself, shoot the Berger .20 Cal 55gr bullet. Anyone that shoots this bullet, and doesn't already have a good supply, may want to get some because whatever is already out there and on the shelves, is it. I talked to Berger earlier today and confirmed, they are no longer making this bullet and it has been discontinued.

This really sucks because I don't know of any other bullet maker that makes anything heavier that a 40 grainer even.

Blane Leisy of Blackhole bullets makes some very fine 20cal bullets he has a 55gr tipped that shoots as good out of my 20br and 20-250 as the Berger's, but it's a good thing I stocked up on them when we did a group buy on the 55 Bergers a couple years back.
Don Unmussig makes some .20cal bullets up to a 62gr VLD or at least he did a few years back I have quite a few of his 50gr .20 bullets which also shoot pretty good.

I'm not sure, is Unmussig still in business?

I just read Black Hole Bullets makes a 55gr .20 Cal but I don't know anything about them or if they're still in business either.

I'd bet Berger sells very few of these bullets in comparison to others, otherwise they'd not be discontinuing them. We get tunnel vision in our niches of the sport(s) and fail to see the really MUCH bigger picture overall. I don't have any numbers to verify, but I'd wager the 204 50 gr is but a minuscule product compared to 140 class 6.5's or similar.

Not sure, didn't really ask about any of that but I did ask if their other two .20 cal bullets, the 35 and 40, were going away and he said that they were safe and wouldn't be going anywhere.

Even though it wasn't really what I wanted to hear, what he said made sense, which was, because there really isn't much of a factory made gun .20 caliber market, for the most part there's really only the 204 Ruger, and the 55's require a lot more twist than any factory barrel comes with, the 55's really weren't a very big market for them, certainly nothing like the 35 and 40's are.

Way sad to see this. Everywhere on line is now sold out of them. I sent an email to Berger to see if they would sell me a lot of 10,000 of them and they said they won’t do direct consumer sales. Which is pretty sad now because they did in the past. They definitely don’t have customers satisfaction a priority like they have in the past. Guess I will spend my money else where from now on.
