Bering Optics Hogster 35 R vs AGM TS-35 Rattler

I am trying to decide between the AGM TS-35 Rattler and the Bering Optics Hogster 35 R. I am leaning towards the Rattler due to the awesome mount and video recording. However, am I losing too much image quality by going with the Rattler? I am also curious if the 2.14 power of the rattler would give me more range compared to the 2.0 of the Hogster? Doesn't seem to be a noticeable difference in the few videos I've seen. Lastly, does the Rattler pixelate as bad as the hogster 35 when zooming in? I am hunting coyotes in Southern Indiana and the terrain varies from hardwoods and open fields. Would like to be able to reach out and tag one at 200 when necessary but usually the shots will be around 100.

..watching and comparing videos of the same spec thermals can be difficult(when watching on say you tube). As you lnow, Looking through the actual optics will have a much cleaner picture than watching a digital thermal video that has been degraded through the process.

...IMO...this is where the 384ish PIP thermals gain(in a sense) on a 640 thermal....you can use your clean base mag on main screen ...and have your PIP zoomed to a higher power for more precision on a longer or miss judged distance. It will be pixelated but less of a "distraction" than having the whole screen like a 1984 video game.

I can't speak to the AGM but 200yds is very doable with the Hogster 35. I shoot mostly fox and have made shots at 275 paces so around 275yds, with several over 200yds. Keep in mind how small a fox is compared to a coyote. I never go above base mag with the Hogster.

I would get the Hogster because its got a 4 year warranty vs. 3 on the AGM. Both on paper are comparable but I feel the Hogster is a little more proven and definitely have great customer support should you need it. All that said, I'm running am AGM ASP TM35 scanner that I've had zero issues with and for the price offers an amazing value and good performance.

Bumping this thread. I like the idea of the 4 year warranty on the Hogster but alot of people seem to be running AGM's. I've had a Pulsar HD19A for years that has never failed me so these "newer" brands kind of spook me a little bit. 3-4 year warranty is no good if the company ceases to exist.

Any recent feedback on someone that loves their TS25-TS35 or their Bering that might sway me one way or the other? I don't really care about video recording but I guess that's a decent feature to have.

My hunting partner has a 35 Rattler and it's ok but doesn't compare to my recently acquired super hogster. I can't comment on how it compares to the 35 hogster.

From the various internet forums, I follow AGM thermals seem to be viewed and reviewed very well.

The Rattlers and Taipan are 100% made in China and imported in. My main worries about AGM are with the current issues with importing items what happens if you need service. AGM has no service option at this time so warranty work requires replacement. Will they have inventory to replace? With no service at this time, my 2nd concern would be what happens when the warranty is up. AGM may strike some deal with a company to do service, but there is no guarantee of this.

The next concern I have with AGM is their warranty applies only to the original purchaser. The thermal must be registered to receive warranty. All of these items already mentioned would have to impact the resale value if you ever want to sell your thermal.

These facts don't seem to keep some dealers from selling AGM. However, these are just some of the reasons Night Goggles carries Bering and not AGM at this time.

Bering thermals are assembled in the US. They have a 4-year warranty no matter who owns it. It doesn't have to be registered. Bering thermals are supported and serviced in the US. Just about every review that has reviewed Bering thermals and AGM, give Bering the edge from an image perspective.

Now on to the sweetest thing that I can announce. Currently, Bering is out of their supply of the Tactical QD mount (that I like very much). However, the exciting news due to this shortage, Night Goggles is selling the Hogster 35 and the Super Hogster with the LaRue QD mount that was only available on the Super Yoter. The even better news is Night Goggles hasn't increased the price. This is a very expensive and quality mount. So, if one of your main reasons was the name brand mount, LaRue is tough to beat.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I share the same concerns about the AGM’s

Well, I may live to regret it, but recently I purchased the AGM Rattler 25. UPS delivered just today. First impressions are good. It’s definitely small, only slightly over 7 inches in length. One noticable thing I wish it had is a black reticle. It has white, green and red. I like a black dot against the animal in white mode. I mainly got this scope to be used as a scanner, but it’s nice to have the option of another rifle scope. Time will tell.

I had and sold my tiapan 19 for the hogster r 35mm. I know these are different scopes then the rattler but the hogster is waaaay better! I use the hogster r for scanning and the super hogster for shooting and I love this combo!

I don’t have anything to compare it with, but I received a ts-25 rattler yesterday. I’ll say, it’s much better than I expected. It’s very clear, and the menu seems intuitive and easy to navigate.

Same here, I ordered one. I'll let you guys know what I think. I just can't justify the higher end models as much as I want one.
