Night Goggles is excited to announce the availability of the Bering Optics Phenom 384 12µm scanner. The best way to describe the Phenom 384 is a Super Hogster in the Phenom's scanner style body for $1,000 less.

Overview: Overall, I am impressed. It is able to detect and identify heat signatures at medium to long distances. For anyone looking for a medium-long range scanner, the Phenom 384 is a great fit. I see hog hunters really liking this scanner for those that need to scan a field and make a PID at longer distances before they begin the hunt. The image isn't as sharp and clear as the Phenom 640 (to be expected) but still is very good for a 384 resolution scanner at more than 30% less cost.

Price: $2,175

Availability: This is not a pre-order as the Phenom 384 is available from Bering and Night Goggles has placed an order. The 384 will be on the Night Goggles website soon. You can call Night Goggles at 909-312-5424 or contact sales@nightgoggles.com to place an order.

Timely thread.....

I ran across this model last week and was wondering why I hadn't seen any chatter about it, so I called Bering. I was told it's been out for a while, but was not given a date. Since I couldn't find any specs on it, Boris sent me the comparison chart of both the 384 and the 640 Phenoms. I then asked for real FOV numbers in yards rather than degrees, but never got a response.

Based on the specs, I also felt it was the SH in a scanner body, at a grand less.

Can you run these on an external battery pack too?

Just take it times 3 in order to get feet at 100 yards.

Thanks for posting Korey. That looks like a super nice scanner for sure. One thing I've noticed on my SH and your videos is how well the BO units work in high humidity. I currently run a FLIR Scion for a scanner and it struggles in extremely high humidity with image clarity. Yes, it will pick up anything coming in but the ability to have a clear image with high humidity reduces eye strain over time - maybe not a big deal but to some it might be.

Do you know if a PVS-14 type rubber eyepiece can be converted or used on this scanner? Reason I ask is I like to use the 14 type eyepiece that closes itself when not depressed on your face/eye area to reduce light flashback when its pulled away from scanning.

On the Phenoms no, on a Hogster or Yoter probably but a bit loose and would probably recommend a little electrical tape to make sure it doesn’t come off.
