best auto shotgun

If it were me I'd be looking at a stoeger m2000. I'm a bit outta my element when it comes to shotguns though. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along shortly to better answer you're question

Not sure what you mean by moderate price. I am very fond of the Beretta 390....these can be had for under $600.

390 is great for the price. I use a couple browning auto 5's and a browning a500g for most of my shotguning. Got a benelli SBE2 but never shoot it!!

The beretta 390/3901/391 platform is very very stout and economical. I've got thousands and thousands of rounds down the tube of my 391 Urika Parallel Target. It's a trap gun, but, I wouldn't tell that to all sporting clays, quail, and pheasant it's taken care of

. The most I've shot it in a weekend is 500 rounds, so it's seen some abuse. It works well even dirty and minimal lube and in the cold.

I have a Beretta 390 and it shoots lights out if I do my part. I took 5 coyotes with it in one day last week. Coulda done it with a pump, but nah. Low recoil, and I am pretty sure it can be upgraded with cool stuff. The Rem 1187 is also nice. I got my 390 for just under $600 at Academy I think. I coulda probably got it cheaper used, but I really just wanted a new one to put my own scratches on. At least give them a look for the price. You can compare them to cheaper autoloaders and easily see the difference in quality right out of the box.

I have a 391 and I love it. It works great, reliable in the cold, got it used for under 500. It's so light, I could carry it all day.

The browning maxis is super light and has an amazing feel. A little on the high end of the price range but cheaper then the Benelli autos

i use a escort auto as a dedicated coyote gun, not much $ tied up in it,and gets the job done, painted camo, dead coyote choke, and fed. 12 ga 3in 4 buck= fur on ground. bought it 2 years ago on sale at calranch for 280. never had misfire or misfeed, and dont have to worry if it gets dirty, muddy, or dropped. fits the misson at hand, kill dem dogs

I traded a Knight Muzzleloader and $200.00 Cash for a Benelli Super Black Eagle I I think I paid about $150.00 for the Knight so I think I did real well on that trade, It will shoot everything I can put in it from 2 3/4 to 3 1/2" shells, and I found a Dead Coyote choke for it so I can use it for yotes, it is already camo, and has a 26" barrel, couldn't ask for more!

Benelli and Beretta in that order. Winchester SX3/Browning Maxis would be third and well down the line from the two "B" guns IMHO. Anything else is a considerably more distant pick below after those.

I have had the following yote shot guns:

870's
1100's
Ithaca 37's
Ithaca 10g auto
Browning 10g auto
BPS
Browning Gold
Benelli Super Black Eagle
1187's
Beretta 390's

My vote goes to the Beretta 390's

Find a Bereta 390 used, I don't think that you can wear them out. They have less recoil than the Rem 1100. You an get on follow up shots quicker with the 390 than any gun I have owned...much less recoil. You can pretty much forget cleaning the 390 with the exception of when the gun gets wet, you don't ever want a gun's chamber to rust or stick wet shells in the chamber without cleaning immediately after use.
