Yes sir

dont mean to jack your thread but i too am looking for one that has a lot of horizontal motion without having to pick it up and reset. i have caldwells but they dont do enough side to side for me.

Here's my .02. I went cheap and got the Shooters ridge. Right away I could tell it is not built as good as the Harris. To top it off, the nut's that hold the legs to the base keep working loose. Not a good design on their part.

Going forward, I plan on buying nothing bu Harris bipods in the future. As the saying goes "buy once, cry once".

Snow, the new HD3 from BogGear is the best tripod I have seen. It is solid as a rock and sets up quickly and smoothly. I understand they have plans to possibly put out all models in this beefed up version. Hope so.

Possum,
I'll have to check out the new HD3 when it makes it's way to my local Sportsman's WH. It looks pretty stout though on their website. The thing I really like about that Precision tripod is how short it is when all legs are compacted down. It's only 18.5" long vs. 33" on the Bog setup. On the snowmachine, the more compact size is much easier to stow and less likely to snag up on brush. For hunting out of the truck, the Bog is nice to toss in the back and have extended out, ready to go though.

I've used the Harris Pivot 13.5-27" for many years and always found them to be the best option.

However, recently I've started wondering if there is anything better? As predator callers, we often take an elevated position meaning we will face downhill- requiring longer legs. I've almost always needed at least 20" and for some of the more extreme inclines, I've wished for longer than 27". Also, the legs don't always stay locked outward and can be a little noisy with the spring system for the pivot or when they inadvertently snap back into place.

Has anyone ever tried this item: Vanguard Equalizer 3QS Kneeling Pivot Pod

The leg locking mechanism seems better, like our camera tripods, and it will provide the extra length sometimes needed. I'm a little confused how this attached and "detaches quickly", but I am interested in switching over. Afraid to take the risk though on pricey item. Any input greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I need to check out the HD3 that was referenced.

Versa-Pod is my favorite. It comes in several lengths to accommodate everything from the bench or prone, to sitting on the ground, and sitting in a chair.

Snipe Pod is my all time favorite.. Moves in every direction, quick disconnect on a swivel stud, legs fold up like tent poles. Life time guarantee

Harris which is mounted to my gun but I also carry my Vanguard shooting bipod for when I'm in a sitting or standing position.

snipe pod order direct from kramer design 33 inch will probably work or Terry kramer will make it longer I have two and they work great. Tell him the guy from northwest nebr told you to call

I have at least 6 different brands of bipods including harris and everyone of them has had the leg nuts come loose sooner or later.
The only thing different between them all is name & price, once they are on a gun you never know what brand they are.
harris does not make one tall enough for me when Im sitting and calling, while calwells can be had in 14-27" height.
Harris is fine for my prone shooting just like any other brand.
