best bolt action for 6mm rem AI custom rifle?

Any one have any suggestions for which brand/ length of bolt actions would be best suited for the 6mm rem AI cartridge?

I have heard that Rem 700 short actions are not quite ideal for this particular cartridge due to them being on the short side.

I am considering having one made, or maybe a 243 AI.

Thanks

to answer your question, if you want to go fast twist for the bigger higher BC bullets, I'd have it built on a long action for sure.

I am building my latest rifle on a BAT action. This is my first BAT and I am very impressed with it. A good programmer with CNC machining can turn metal into a work of precision art.

It will be shooting primarily 75 to 85 grain bullets or maybe down to 65 at the lightest. The intended purpose is to thump coyotes with it.

I have other rifles I prefer to use for deer sized critters.

I would would find a Savage 270 or 30-06 on sale somewhere for about $400.00.

Then you can order a prefit barrel from Shilen or McGowan for about $300.00

The action wrench and nut wrench that you will need will cost around $100.00, but by selling the original stock and barrel you can recover that cost. And you will need them in the future, because after you change your first Savage barrel, It becomes an addiction. With future barrels, you can make that rifle into anything from a 22BR to a 35 Whelen.

For a stock you can go anywhere from a Bell and Carlson Duramax for $100.00 to a McMillan with all of the bells and whistles for $800.00.

Then you will have a custom rifle that I guarantee will shoot and the best part is that you are the one that built it.

Oh you evil, evil Man!

Reason I said it depends on bullet weight is because if you want to shoot 85gr>less bullets, a short action will work in the 6mmAI. If you plan on using the longer stuff, like 107 SMK's, 105 A-max, D-TACs, etc., I'd go long action......

or, if you must use a SA, go with BM that will let you seat the bullet out.

LA is still the way to go for the longer pills.

and if your gonna go custom, go faster twist to get the most out of it

the heavy bullets do great in the wind and knock the snot outta the predators !
