I usually play the sound at 1/2 volume depending on conditions and play continuously until I leave which maybe 10 minutes or over an hour just depends on what I am after and how I feel about the spot.
I almost always start with a distress of some sort bird or rabbit because it will call every predator whereas if you start with bobcat/coyote sounds you could be limiting your appeal to only a certain predator.
