Best cheap red dot sight for shotgun?

Putting together a coyote specific shotty that will double as a home defense gun. It's a Mossberg 500. Barrel is at Carlson's right now getting threaded for choke tubes. I realize EO Tech, Aimpoint, ect are the best, but I don't want to spend that kind of money for this project. Which red dot sights will hold up to 12 guage recoil and hold zero for less $$? Thanks for any tips.

One of the sponsors on here, TNVC, sells a red dot they market for training and hunting that's just what you're describing. It resembles the Burris Fast Fire if I remember right. They've got it for

Vortex makes two that get great reviews. They're $150-200, pending which model you go with.

Or, find a used Bushnell holo sight. Normally you can find them used from $175-$225.

If you do any night hunting try to fing one that lights up red and green. That green is nice at night. Was thinking about a dot scope for mine but was worried about batt life at 0 deg. Been looking at some tridium front beads insted.

I'm using the Bushnell Trophy.I got it on sale about 4 years ago for 40 bucks.I don't shoot a lot of slugs but so far so good.A friend that recommended it to me has used his a lot longer and shoots his 500 quite a bit.

Thanks for the replies. Of the above listed, I like the Vortex so far. Night hunting is my new obsession so the ability to have a green dot is ideal. Keep the suggestions coming. Cold weather is a concern, but not as cold here as in MN. Single digits on a clear night is about as cold as it gets most of the time.

If you get a cheap one I recommend getting one with a lifetime warranty like Truglo. I shoot lots of buckshot loads out of my 12 ga. and I also didn't want to spend lots of dollars for a red dot so I went with the truglo. After about 50 rounds it wouldn't hold zero but I sent it in and got a new one so maybe they will replace it again after another 50 rounds.

I understand budget constraints but with that said I can't see scrimping on a self defense weapon. Having a day hunt ruined because an inexpensive sight puked is one thing - the same sight puking while defending my life or my family is the price I cannot afford.
