best field cleaning kit

I like my Otis cables. They fit every rifle I have and they travel easily in my "gun" bag. There was a learning curve in getting the patches attached tightly though.

I usually use a .270 patch with .22 bores, making my own patches by snipping a cut in the center with a side cutters.

I've got a Bore Snake. It does a good job and will fit in a pocket or an AR stock (if you have the A2 with a trapdoor).
I never really shoot enough to need it in the field.

I love the Bore Snakes.
No patches.
No long unwieldy cleaning rods.
No risk of damaging your crown.
No swapping tips.
Small enough to fit in your pistol grip.
What’s not to like?

bore snake for me too! Simple and effective

Does that "field" contain coyotes or PD's?

If I'm firing a few rounds..less than 20 or so will clean when I get home. If I'm really enjoying a dog town clean whenever I feel like it but use conventional 1-piece rod, brush, jag, patches, chamber brush and bore guide, Butch's Boreshine and CLP all of which we take with us. No PDs in FL so we're more like a safari operation.

I do like both BoreSnake and PatchWorm for rimfires but ALWAYS pull the bronze brush from .17HMR BoreSnakes as lot of anecdotal evidence of folks sticking one and being unable to get out.

Have a hunting partner that runs his AR so dirty you can't believe it functions..he is also of the shoot 'em WET persuasion..doesn't seem to hurt his hit ratios.

Bore snakes are handy for wiping out the bore/chamber, but the Otis AR field kit is the better of the two for getting into the nooks and crannies..
