Best flashlight with red lens

Ive read everything on spotlights here, but have not seen anything on flashlights /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
My question is what would be the best flashlight on the market to use?
What would the max range be with a red lens?
Battery life/AC adapters?
I know that the spotlight is the best route to go, but there might be that situation where a great flashlight might come in handy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif anyone use one?
Thanks for reading and look forward to your responses. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Bob Percifield

Streamlight ultra stinger really reaches out there. The one I have is rated at 75,000 cp. Some of the guys just take a clear lens flip up scope cover (like butler creek) that fits their flashlight and paint on some red dykem (layout dye)on the the lens. Now you have a red lens and when you don't need the red just flip it open the cap. The stingers, they make several models, may use an ac or dc charger and they also have fast chargers. They're spendy though. Light and a charger is going to be in the neighborhood of $100 depending on what charger or chargers are packaged with it.

Try the Brinkman XL from Wal Mart.

It is about $20, has a Xenon bulb and uses the 123 cell batteries.

It is extremely bright but does not last long. I am putting one on my AR for a momentary spotlight. It is light and pretty powerful.

there is a guy on AR15.com who assembles and sells surefire lights and quoted me a 9 volt light for a little over a hundred.

Go to thread on Night Calling 4 below this one at:

Theres a lot of talk on FlashLights there..........RickH2

I use the streamlight HP for my scaning, and a light force for the shooting. Said and done going that route will cost you about 350.00.

Go to Wally World and get a mag light.Take out the clear lens and pop in a red one.You wont be dissappointed. With the ajustable flood to spot beam...it's the best thing I've found hands down.I can detect eyes out past a hundred yards and shoot within 75.I tried one of those brinkman that comes with a red and blue lens and it aint worth a crap when you put a red lens on it.

I second the Maglite. I use the 3 D Cell one that I put a red lens on. Easily see eyes well past 100yrds. The "spot to flood" really comes in handy also. I just carry a spare pack of Duracell's in my tote bag. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

OOPS... FYI, I also have the Optronics scope mounted light. I use the Maglight for shinning the fields, then use the scope mounted light when preparing to shoot.

Well, I got the Mag Light today. It so happens that the Bushwacker flip up red cover from the Cabelas light very nearly fit the Mag. A couple turns of no-mar camo tape and we are in business. That sucker is bright! I think it will be the cats a**! Thanks for the tip guys,R.J.

Here are a couple pics of the finished product. I think if you had a new Bushwacker cover, you could do away with the tape under it. The Cabelas light stretched it pretty good.
