Best Laser Boresighter out there

I have a Leupold boresighter, and it will get me on paper at 50 yards, but not at 100. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good laser boresighter. Since I have several rifles of different calibers, I think I would prefer one that mounts in the barrel and does not use different arbors for each specific caliber. I also don't want one that uses a collimator or spuds.

I was consdering one of these two, but would gladly consider others:
LaserLyte

Site-Lite SL 100

Just wondering what leupold boresighter do yo have? Is it the scopesmith magnetic one? I know leupold is coming out with a new boresighter very shortly. The reason I'm asking is because I was considering purchasing the leupold. The gunsmith at my local gander mt. told me to stay away from the lasers and that all he uses was the magnetic leupold. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yes, I have the Scopesmith magnetic boresighter. I found that if I use it to boresight a rifle, at 100 yards it is still about 2 feet off. I found the best way to use it is to start out at 50 yards to get on paper, then after adjusting the scope, move my target out to 100 yards. I don't think I should have to do this with a good boresighter, and should be able to at least get on paper at 100 yards.

If the lasers are as good as their advertisements claim, and throws a red dot on any white target at 25 yards that is in perfect alignment with the bore(without firing a shot), that would be great.

Then again, maybe technology is not quite there yet.

mongo, i have the site lite you have the link to. i first bought the lazerlyte and returned it as it was a piece of junk. from a design point it didnt stand a chance. the site lite is much better and a sound and clever design. i use it in my basement at 50 feet to get me on paper at 50/75 yards. you can use it in the back yard or in the garage on the house across the street, if you dont have a better place. it only goes to .224 cal. no 17 or 20 available. i have been thinking of giving them a call about that. i got mine from cabelas you can shop around but i think they are all about the same price unless you catch a sale. i have to travel 50 miles one way to sight in,in a farmers sand pit,so to get me on paper before hand helps me out. bob kudile

mongo, go to google search engine and type in site lite bore sighter and cabelas will come up there is a description for the 100 and other models. also ebay will show at the right margin there is one for about 50.00 going in 4 hours looks complete in the case. good luck, bob kudile

Why spend money on a bore sight?

Steady your rifle in a hands free rest (sand bags will do), aim at something on the berm at the 100yd range and touch off a shot watching for where the bullet hits. Re-aim at your original aim point and (without moving the rifle) adjust your sights/scope to the point of impact.

This’ll get you on paper every time. Adjust as needed from there.

There's a better way to bore site (a bolt action or break action)....put your gun in a good rest or padded vice.

Take the bolt out and look down the bore - pick out an object in the center of the bore.

Then look though your scope and move the crosshairs until that same object is zero'd.

We used to use a "+" made of black electricians tape. we'd put the + on the door frame in the auto supply/sporting goods I worked in.

Then we would take the rifle upstairs in the back of the store where we had a padded vice, clamp the gun in the vise with the + centered in the barrel, then move the crosshairs to match.

Worked real well.
