Best lead free option for coyote

I just recently picked up a tikka super lite in 223. It has the 8 inch twist so I can shoot the longer bullets through it. My intent on this rifle is purely a coyote carry rifle. I am relocating to california so I need to shoot lead free bullets. I have used barnes ttsx exclusively in my larger hunting rifles and like them a lot. I seen the MPG line though and was intrigued. Do any of you have any real world experience with them? Will they consistently put yotes down or are the ttsx line still a better choice. I know the ttsx are good bullets but, the MPG's are half the price.

Are you going to shoot enough coyotes in a year to have the cost of a bullet be a factor?

If so, I envy you.

But, to your question. The TSX is the way to go. Very accurate, and it is pretty fur friendly in the event you have a Bobcat come your way, and they will hold up much better in case a larger kitty has to be shot.

Try the Barnes Varmint Grenade. I have loads for it in both my 220 Swift and 222 and it is killer on coyotes. I am shooting the 36 gr. The downside? It is a light bullet and therefore, especially in my 220 Swift, it is not a long range bullet. Also, at least for where I live, we get a lot of wind in the winter months so that is also a reason it is not a longer range bullet for me. It is just not heavy enough to buck it.
My personal opinion is that if you are shooting inside 350 yards, it will perform with excellent results for you.
If you are just wanting a heavier bullet, the Barnes 50 and 55 gr TSX bullets are excellent as well.

As a side note, both coyotes in my avatar were shot with my 220 Swift and 36 gr Barnes Varmint Grenade bullets. No exit holes.

I have killed quite a few coyotes over the last 5 years with the Barnes 55 gr MPG bullets out of my 1-8" twist 223AI and my 1-8" twist 22-250.

I have to use lead free bullets in the area I live and hunt in. I use the Hornady 35 gr NTX and Nosler 40 gr Lead Free BT Varmint bullets on squirrels but I like heavier bullets for coyotes.

If I can ever get my hands on some Nosler 50 gr Lead Free BT Varmint bullets I want to give them a try.
