Best months to hunt hogs in Texas...

Hello all,

I've got a handful of hog hunts under my belt. As I'm learning, I'm curious as to what months are the best for hogs in Texas? I was told that the wheat seasons are good. I know they can be hunted year round but so far, I've hunted in Spring & Summer.

Any advice is appreciated!

I know its not the same but here in FL its between Jan an March. I have friends who hunt in ga and have there best luck during that same time frame for what's its worth.good luck!

My experience is that the hogs get scarce during deer season (October-January) due to hunting pressure and all the activity in the woods associated with it.

They hogs are hot and heavy on the feeders in Aug-Sept and Feb-April.

During the peak deer season they are also scattered on acorns.

I hunt Texas hogs in late Feb or March. Late March, the snakes start coming out, one more thing to worry about. Deer season runs until the end of January. My Texas buddies hunt hogs year 'round.

I shot 39 last year... all at feeders, all at night with either thermal or nv... when the pressure goes up, you never see them during the day... but they still show up at night... once they realized they were getting shot at night, they started only coming when the moon was down... switched to thermal then and kept going! I use a dakota alert radio murs system to help in knowing when they are there... i don't stay up all night , just wait for the alarm to go off.. you can set up 4 zones to alert ... it just goes off over the radio "alert zone one! alert zone one" .. or 2,3,4. so I know where they are... also, deer move less... when a deer set it off the alerts are not as frequent ... when pigs show up the alarm goes bananas.

on another note , i used to use ir illuminators with my NV and also setup a wireless 802.11 ip camera with IR .... pigs can see it .. after getting shot at a few times, they no longer come if the ir light is on.... just fyi.
