Best muzzleloader?

I was looking to see what most of you would recommend for a muzzleloader. I got a feeling the TC Encore will be mentioned the most but i'm looking for one no FFL is required for buying/selling. I had the omega, it was accurate, but didn't care for it personally. Looking to get the TC Triumph (BC edition), anyone got one with some feedback on it. I can get them at cost (and many other brands) so the TC is very reasonable so cost isn't a factor.

I have and love the savage 10ml11.I am unsure of the FFL thing though. You can use it all year and after the season give it a scrubbing and no rust. The most accurate muzzle loader I have, the second was a cva .45 that would shoot quarters at 100 with ease.

Though I haven't shot it (I'm one of those Encore guys), my brother has a TC Triumph that he has been very pleased/impressed with. According to his reports, it's quite accurate and a pleasure to handle and hunt with.

We have always had good luck with the TC black diamonds,,but im unsure if they are made still,,maybe find a used one...X

As the owner of the Bone Collector Triumph with the 3x9 Leupold Ultimate Slam I truely can not imagine anything else being any better.. super accurate, lightweight, easy to clean and handle, great trigger and the scope is second to none because the DOTS are right on the money out to 300 yards.. I'd buy another one in a second!

I have two Knights and love them both. I have cloverleafed at 200 yards with one of them. You simply cannot beat those Green Mountain barrels. No problems ever. The other that I have not cloverleafed at 200 yards, is still iron sighted and have done so at 100 yards. Off a rest obviously. They can be had cheap now too, and parts will always be available. Something to think about.

I had a Knight KP-1, worst gun i ever owned. The trigger fell out the bottom after each shot with the 30-06 barrel on it and with the .50 cal muzzleloader barrel on it i couldn't close it with a primer in it, the breach plug stuck out too far. Luckly for me i got it right before they went out of business (not) and didn't shoot it till after they did. Then i found all this out about it. Sent it back in and luckly their repair shop was still open and they put a totally new trigger system in it that was off some other gun that was completely different and junk, and retaped the barrel for the breach plug. I had to reef the breech plug in to get the gun to close with a primer in it still, then the hammer wouldn't lock back to cock it, but would with the primer out???? Won't ever touch another knight, shot it 3 times and lost $400 trading it back in on my AR! I'm definately getting the Leupold Grand Slam scope also for my next muzzleloader.

I am assuming you are looking for a modern inline?? I have owned a bunch of them including a couple of Omega's and Encores. Along with a bunch of others. I also have and still own a few different Knight rifles. If you are looking for a lightweight MZ then I would look for one of the original Knight MK-85's. They are unbelievable MZ's with absolutely the best trigger you can get. If you want a little heavier MZ then go with a Knight Long Range Hunter. I have mine set up to shoot out to 225 yards, with little difficulty. My goal this year is to extend that range to 300 yards, and the LRH is completely capable of doing it. Tom.

The Savage ML is the best for several reasons. The strongest action of any by a wide margin. The most waterpproof of any others. Excellent trigger and very accurate. You can load any kind of powder for muzzle loaders and also some smokeless powders, which would mean you wouldn't have to clean the bore until after about 100 rounds or so.

I forgot about the savage, that has to be one of the best. Does that require a FFL to recieve one because of the smokeless powder, i assume not? Also, what is a good price on one of the savages?

CVA Optima Elite with thumbhole stock. They have the bergara barrels and they will drive tacks. The Elite is interchangeable barrel rifle like the T/C Prohunter.
Wouldn't trade it for anything

I use a Knight Disc myself for years and I have owned Thompson Centers but like how the Knight Disc loads fast. Hard to beat a Knight Disc just my opinion.

I absolutely love my Savage muzzle stuffer. Luckily in TN it is still okay to use smokeless powder in it. no smoke, no traditional smell, as accurate as most rifles I own, and I love the accutrigger. If I were buying another muzzle loader today, it would be the Savage, hands down.

I know there are others that are very accurate, very reliable, and I will not knock them at all. I am just convinced that the Savage is the Cadillac of the muzzle loader family.

I have had a few TC encore and a couple of Knight's. My Knight rifles would outshoot the my TC every time. I did observe several CVA guns shoot extremely well. This was at a muzzleloading tournament for kids, but the adults were able to shoot the guns too. Most people don't buy them because they are not "cool" but they do shoot good.

my first vote would be my g2 super 45 but since ffl is required i will go with hogghead on the LRH they are very sweet shooting guns Ron

Aren't the savages about twice as much as the Omegas?

I agree it would be awesome, but they are pretty expensive for a MZ.
