best red dot or similar for night hunting with a shotgun

Last night i shot over the top on a coyote at 1 am with not much of a moon. Gotta take the barrel sight guess work out of night hunting. Looking for something reasonable with no glare so i can see in very low light. Thanks!
 
Bushnell TRS-25 for under $100 if you're on a budget. Aimpoint PRO or T1/H1 for $350-$500 for a high quality one that can serve double duty on a HD weapon (don't need to be shut off and can go years on 1 battery). I have several TRS-25s and T1s and all have been used on shotguns and rifles.

If you are using a light, the TRS-25 will work fine. If you're not allowed to have lights, you may have to go to the T1 route as its adjustments go dimmer to allow for NVG usage. Some of the cheaper RDS produce too much glare even on their lowest setting.

After having several inexpensive red dot scopes break I've given up on them. I use Eotech Holosights and don't have failures, with exception of a .22 I don't have a sub $200 red dot that has held up.
 
Bushnell trophy has been good to me. Held up on a mossberg 835 shooting 3 1/2" dead coyote with no failures after 3 years. Good red dot for the money.
 
Thanks guys! We can use lights but choose not to since we hunt under the moon light on snow covered terrain. No need. I usually hunt with a rifle but when pairs or multiples come in, a shotgun is just too easy to say no to
 
I prefer the Aimpoint. I have an M3 but the best is the M4 because it takes standard batteries. The reason I like this sight is because you can dial the brightness of the dot way down so it don't knock out your night adjusted eyes. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for and it will hold zero no matter what.

I went out and tried the TRS-25 and it is dim enough on the lower settings to not wash out your vision. The other bonus: it's in your budget and is a small, compact package for a shotgun.
 
I have two under 100 bucks.Bushnell's Trophy (tube type) on a slug barrel and Weavers Micro Dot (reflex type) on the Turkey barrel.Both have a little glare but the Weaver is not so bad you couldnt use it at night.
 
The Weaver is pretty good at night.The flare between those two is pretty close but the Bushnell looses some some ground because it gathers less light.
