Best rifle brands

Everyone has their "favorite" brands. Kind of like Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, etc.

I myself prefer Savage rifles over Remington or Ruger (for the most part) but have been tempted by the good reviews I've seen about the CZ rifles lately.

"Best" rifle brands might be the customs like Cooper Arms, Kimber, etc. but you'll pay a whole lot more for the upper end stuff.

I have been looking myself. Trying to get my hands on one of those Mossberg MVP Flex's, but keep getting the runaround. Cannot understand why an American made company cannot provide better service. May well end up with the Ruger American for my needs.

Buy you a Remington Model 7. As much as I like the Remington 700's, I prefer the size of the Model 7, plus I've never had one that wasn't a shooter.

You already know the good rifle brands, not in any order. Tikka, remington, savage, winchester, cz etc. now go pick one in your budget and one that feels good. Personally I think it's more important to find one that offers things that you like. I personally like lighter rifles with detachable mags for predator hunting. Maybe you love blind mags and heavy barrels. Find what appeals to you and learn to shoot it.

Another factor is.. Are you a tinkerer? In other words do you want to work on a rifle in order to get it to shoot? Look for something with a user friendly adjustable trigger and shoots well right out of the Box. Many good brands as stated above. Research the model you like and read reviews. Nothing worse than "Buyers remorse" Good luck.

IMO what you intend to do with the rifle should determine what to buy. If you are gonna buy a rifle and make no changes to it, I would buy either a Savage or Tikka. I think out of the box their accuracy seems to be a little better and their components as well. If you plan on buying a gun and modifying it, I would get a Remington. Remingtons are the easiest to get components for and can make a heck of a great rifle. Just my 2 cents.

Looking at The OP's second post on Savage Axis, I am thinking that he could be looking into entry level rifles. Which I am sure most of us did when getting started?

Ditto on Tikka, T/C Icon, and Savage.

Mine have all been fiddle free or very little work to get good grouops.

The T/C Icon is a really nice rifle but I believe it is out of production, however I have shot a couple of Ventures and those seem to be a very good value.

Just bought a Remmy and you can read on my post what I got for my money, but that doesn't mean you won't get a good one.

IMO every brand has their pros and their cons. I'm partially to Ruger because i like the sexier, classic line of a walnut stock and blued barrel, BUT their stock trigger isnt the best and the newer rifles dont have the best stock work in my experience. Money is also a factor. If you're on a budget, go with a Savage Axis or Ruger American. If you buy a Savage Axis, you can get a good stock from Boyds and still be less than a new Ruger M77 or Tikka. I have zero experience with Tikkas and some higher end brands like Coopers, Kimbers, Noslers, etc, but they all have a good reputation. Like anything, you get what you pay for as a general rule so it all depends on your budget and your personal prefences.

They are ALL good. I prefer Remington 700 for my bolt guns, (22-250, 30-06), and Rock River for my AR's, Marlin for my Lever guns. You can find lots of extras to put on all the main manufacture guns out there. Put as good a scope as you can afford and go from there. Good Luck.

CZ, Kimber, Sako and Tikka. CZ is about the best gun dollar for dollar in my opinion.

Remember though there's a huge difference in a varmint rifle and a predator rifle. Predator rifles need to be fast handling and fit the shooter more precisely.

It all depends on what your pocket can afford. But Remington 700 actions are used and copied by the best gun makers in the world. That should say something.
Good Luck

If I were to go out tomorrow and buy a predator rifle it would either be a...

CZ 527

Savage 10, 11, 14, 16

Tikka T3 Lite

out of the box accuracy in my price range.

but that's just me...
