Best rifle sling

If you think you will ever need the sling for shooting from sitting, kneeling or prone in the field not just carry, Turner slings are probably THE choice for military style competition. Beyond that, you're looking at target shooting slings with wide cuffs that aren't suitable for hunting. Don

DonD and everyone else, check out the Ching sling. Gives you the bicep-replacement support of the loop used in the leather M1907 (Turner competition type) and the GI cloth web sling, with the acquisition speed of the motion used to get into the hasty sling (arm through, around the sling, then hand through). Much faster than the military loop slings to get into and much more support and steadiness than just hasty with a carry strap. Got 'em on all my hunting rifles and you can sling up in a solid, weight-supporting loop in less time than it takes to go from standing to sitting.

As far as carrying, the Ching is just a 1" wide strap up front, though you can hand-make one at 1 1/4" using that width QD swivel. Not some AR CQB tacticool thing, just conventional shoulder carry.

If ya want a Vero Velini, I'll ship ya one that's never been used for twenty bucks.

They're good slings, but I prefer leather.

You might want to look at the Quake Claw. $20 includes swivels, and they don't slip off your shoulder. A very comfortable carry.

The Timber Butte Outdoor sling is by far the best sling I have found for just walking around. They call it the Outlaw sling and it's a backpack style, but it is very quick to get out of with a little practice. I really enjoy it because my 14 pound coyote gun doesn't stay on my shoulder very well with a single strap. My 8 pound rifle doesn't either for that matter. Take a look at them.

My vote goes to the quake claw very good sling in my opinion but I've never even heard of one of them vero vellini before. Might have to check one of them out.

The Vero Vellini is a killer sling, but all the ones I've owned have cracked along the edges of the neoprene after a couple of years of use.
I've got a couple of "Allen" brand neoprene slings from Wally World that are holding up a lot better. And they were about half the price of the VV's.

Regular sling-Quake Claw. Backpack style-Outlaw sling. If you get the quick release model Outlaw sling, it's as easy to get out of as a single sling.

Really? I've never had that trouble with any of mire and I have eight of them. I have some old Vero Vellini slings that are beginning to crack along the edge of the LEATHER trim, but not the actual neoprene material itself. If the leather portion is untreated, like any unattended leather it is going to show that. The slings are holding up fine except for the little cosmetic fine line cracking of a couple of leather trim edges.
