Best scope for 17 HMR???

I'm sure it's been asked before but here we go again. I'd like to keep my spending to around $150.00. I know you get what you pay for. And I own everything from a Cabelas Alaskan Guide, Nikon, BSA, and Simmons scope for other rifles. I want something in the 12-15 power range. Mainly just for plinking and Bobcats. I've got a cheap Simmons on my Savage .17 HMR right now and just can't get the groups I want. Not a clear scope either.

Thanks All!!

If you aren't soured on the Simmons brand, might try the WTC - 6.5-20X....I have 5 or 6 and all work well for me - punching paper and on the annual PD soiree.

I mounted up the Simmons .22 mag w/adj. obj. I'm punching .75" groups at 100 yrds. with the Marlin 917VS. Easily enough to punture the vitals of a yote or 'cat. Hopefully your not too turned off to the simmons. It does well for me.

Possibly the Nikon Pro Staff would get you clarity you looking for. Nice glass in 4x12 for around $199.99. This magnification is great for the affective range of the .17hmr.

Good Luck

Wallys world centerpoint 4-16x44 scope, about $70 it will last forever on the 17hmr. I have one on mine & not one sigle problem with it.

I've got a BSA Sweet 17 on mine. Shoots great and the tactical range turret is dead on. Plinked a hedge apple at 275 yards with it. Good Cheap Scope.
